Lister Found
« on: April 14, 2009, 03:47:54 PM »
Greetings, a friend was given a large air cooled original Lister engine yesterday. It says 26hp 2200rpm, serial #138 HB 219. It has a twin disc pto and compression releases on both cylinders. It was run last year but has been sitting since. Any info/parts available? Is this engine worth restoring?

Thanks!

Anthony

If you had a picture up it would be very helpful in answering your questions but almost all listers are worth keeping, just because it is a true lister.

Sounds like an HB2, be worth checking those number/letters again, just in case it is an HR2.

138 is the serial
HB is the Type
2 is the number of cylinders
19 is the year of manufacture, 1969

The numbers are correct, it's an HB2. Is the HR a better engine? Are overhaul kits available? Can this engine be started by hand? Can the injection pump be rebuilt?

I live in Memphis Tennessee and I'm not aware of any parts houses here that carry English diesel parts.

Thanks
