I have no experiance with them, they look very interesting, but pricey. Then again all "new" technology is. there is a thread in the generator section where several members discussed the pro's & con's recently

Here's the thread I was refering to,
http://listerengine.com/smf/index.php?topic=4273.0
but i seem to remember another thread, with more info, anybody know where it was?

I too have been trying to find out more information on the Utterpower PMG with no luck.  Has anyone been able to get any more info than is on the Utterpower site?  Any ideas on the cost?

You might try emailing George(at)utterpower.com.  I've seen one running and it looked impressive, though it's more expensive and won't compete head on with the ST generators.

[Edit:  Though the PMG might be slightly more efficient than an ST, that hasn't yet been proven.  Its real advantage is in its simplicity.  Totally enclosed, fan cooled, no brushes or slip rings to wear, no rectifier to fail.  It's a more rugged generator that should last longer than an ST in a remote location.]

Ashwamegh 6/1, PowerSolutions 6/1 "Kit" engine, and a Changfa R175a that looks like a Yanmar I once knew

And it should work after an EMP since it has no rectifier.
