the price of anything john deere has gone wild/ a little 1 1/2 jd engine now goes for $1500/ a 6 hp goes for well over $6.000 / you seldon see a small jd engine running at an engine show. most are too hard to start so they just sit  there. the ones that do run are bad about leaking oil/a maytag engine and a john deere have a lot in common/ you have to really want to own an engine to get either one. just my openion/sid

RAB,

I am sorry, I do not remember whether the Wisconsin V465D center main was pressure lubricated.  I know it has an oil pump, which attempts to lube the OHV rockers through the pushrods.  Some of them had the oil grooves in the tappets machined in the wrong place, and did not do a good job of that.

V465D?  Center main?

Hmmm.. I've rebuilt a few of those things (concrete saws mostly) and I don't recall any center main. Just big tapered rollers on the ends of the crank.
I've probably still got parts/service manuals for those engines somewhere. Probably take a week of digging to find them...

The last time I was inside one was probably late 1980's.  Did they add a center main in later years?

'Johnny Poppers'. They are JD two lungers.
Regards, RAB
I have a JD 420C 5 roller and I call it "Dirty Johnny" I thought it was a fuel mizer. It will run all day on a tank.....but never had a full load on it continiously either.

Well, my '60 would pull a 5 bottom disk plow set way down but it would take a couple of stops for fuel would keep it happy.  The exhaust manifold would be glowing by nightfall  ::)
