Found an Anchor
« on: April 27, 2008, 03:50:53 PM »
On my way home from work day before yesterday saw this old lister by the side of the road.  On checking on it I found that it had been partially submerged in salt water during one of the hurricanes ca 2000-2001, and just left and is now on its way to the dump.  If I wanted it take it.  But looking in such bad condition I passed on it.  But by the next day, not being able to sleep that night thinking about i I drug it home.  On opening the sump cover I found that it had not gotten any water on the interior and looked in good shape inside.  I also pulled the head and found that the cylinder is also in great shape.  All external components terrible.
The Injector had been removed but the hole wadded up with paper.  I was wondering if anyone knew if a clone injector from an 81 would be the same to fit this?  The model # 560VA13, 7.5 HP,
850 rpm.  I will have to get all external components, fuel pump, governor linkage.  Which should be the  same as a normal 81, as I think everything remained the same on this except from the cylinder up.
Thanks for any ideas.  Here's the link for photos

Nice score!  I would not have been able to pass on that.  Having to leave it there while I tried to borrow a truck to fetch it would have had me on pins and needles.  My Petter looked almost that bad when I got it. It had sat uncovered outdoors for a decade or two.  Sandblaster made it look as new again on the exterior.

I wouldn't have passed that up either, even if just to have a nice lawn ornament.  The pics are coming up pretty blurry on my PC.  Is that an air cooled 6-1?  Kind of looks that way to me.  You better buy a lottery ticket too.

Ahhhh!  The pic finally finished downloading (dial up here).  I bet an injector off of a listeroid would work on that, probably everything else too.  Peter could probably let you know if you need to swap elements or delivery valves.  It would definatley be worth trying.  I have seen stranger things done.  I saw a Witte MD with a Bosche Mico off of a Listeroid scabbed onto it.  Sometimes you can catch original pumps for sale on FLEABAY.UK

I had to fabricate a sheet metal air turbine housing from scratch for my Petter as it was missing when I got the engine.  That ended up being a lot of work, especially as I had to reinforce the thickness of the barrel segment I used with perforated sheet steel on the inside and a whole shipload of brazing rods.  The thin barrel metal was cracking from the vibration.  After reinforcement, no more problems.

That piston looks aluminum?

Is that standard?

Can anyone guesstimate a date for this SOM?

What a very lucky match pair - A man and his Lister.

The 8/1's had aluminium pistons.  Need a serial number to find the date.

If you aren't concerned about the appearance, you could just lay fiberglass over the shroud.
