New toy, Need information
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:46:43 AM »
Hi all, I got the 3/1-3 1/2 home, and started striping it down,
I need information on it,

Engine dating and info,

No:- CS29399
Spec:-208/10
HP"- 3 / 3 1/2
RPM:- 600/650

Got confused if its a 3/1 or a  3 1/2 /1

Will a 6/1 fuel pump fit,, I know the injector will, I just have to adjust the preasure

the head is siting in a hot tank for the long weekend here, and the cylinder has been sent of to be sleeved,

Any torque settings for the bearings and heads, and other bolts

Any help will be great

Thanks
Scotty

Hi Scotty...I always wanted to go and see Tasmania, it seems like a great place, climate etc.  Maybe one day.

Here's the best advice I can give on the subjects you mention.  Peter and Rita Forbes (Peter is seen often on this site as well as Smokstak) run the most comprehensive site with data and information on old iron you will ever find.  It's worth curling up with a good laptop and spending a few hours reading.

3hp at 600rpm so a 3/1
3-1/2hp at 650 rpm so change its hat and make it a 3-1/2 /1

Injector nozzle is not the same and runs at a higher pressure

Injection pump is mechanically very similar but has a 6mm element instead of a 7mm for the 5/1 and 6/1 engines, details here:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/CAV-Injection/CAV3.htm

Torques for the older stuff can be found here:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/Articles/rrchapt8.htm

Dating info here:

http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/EngineDating/Dating.htm

Look on the right-hand but one column, NOT the left hand columns!

We probably have new nozzles for the 3/1 if you get stuck for one.

Existing old new stock we sell at £18.00 each.

New stock we buy at £18 each and sell at £24 each, that goes for any nozzle in that size range, and covers most of the Lister engines. We have to buy 10 at a time to get a reasonable price, but there may be others on here with old stock that might be cheaper?

Postage extra  ;)

Payment by PayPal, cash in $US or £STG

Hi Fellas,
Got the 3/1 totally striped down, every pipe, nut bolt, stud & bush removed from the block, time to clean it all out, It has about 3 inches for sluge in the case, and about 50 years of crap, But it all came apart ok, I have heaps of new parts for it, It is being painted in 2 pack paint, Nice and bright, Mid Brunswick Green, ( I think thats the right Color, ) So I have been told
The list of new parts
Rings
CR Bearing
Crank Bearings
Cam Shaft Bearings,
Tappets
Valves
Injector ( Had none )
Fuel Pump
Push Rods, ( Had  None )
Crank felts
Oil Slingers
Gib Keys
Oil Strainer
Gasket Set
Head Gasket
New Studs, Nuts & Bolts
Plus other bits
I have had the Cylinder redone, But not as a Listard, Only a plain bore, as no one was willing to do it for me,

All i need to find now is the side plate on the cylinder, NOT the one that holds the filter,
Anyone have one

Should be plenty of scrappers around to get a plate from, or make one out of 1/4" plate.

I've probably got a couple here, but the postage would kill it.
