You guys are expecting a lot. ;D :P

Chug will only send you the offending tap - won't he?  Anyway it prolly only needs a bit of packing in the gland to make it serviceable for another 50 years.

Regards, RAB

Question about Pump no. for Peter, or indeed anyone else who knows the answer.

the pump no is listed as CAV BPF1B 70 CS 6253
here
http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/ListerData/cstech.htm

But mine is CAV BPF1B 70 BS 6253
identical except for a B instead of an S
is this a typing error on your page Peter or is there another reason for this difference?

Congrats Chug on ole Bess. When I lift by the 'wheels I cut a hardwood block to a precise tight fit to span the distance between the flywheels and prevent them from flexing in and minimizing the risk of bending the crank, esp at the extreme chain angle you used.Dont know if it has ever made a diff or been necessary but I have never bent a crank either !! Good luck !!  Paul in Canada.

If you think that was easy with Penelope, take a look at the pic of her when I got her home and sitting on some skids to see what was in the way!

I think Chug has "mysterious Lister powers". Note in his pictures how the engine somehow spins in the back of his truck all by itself !!! If that was the case why didnt he just will the engine off and do away with all those chains and things LOL !

Chug

It is probably a series number or manufacturing number change, the CS is CAV-specific and does not refere to the Lister CS engines, just a happy coincidence!

Been to Nuenen for the engine rally and couldn't use the laptop so didn't take it, saw your email re the query last night when we got back.

Thanks Peter

I thought it might be something like that, and I saw your post on the SE forum with some great pics from the Nuenen rally.

Is that a concrete slab it's bolted to?

No wonder they recommend a ton! :D

No not concrete just heavy wooden bearers.

BTW I only did this for few minutes just to show folks how it rotates, after that it was staked down to the ground with big marquee stakes to keep it still as shown in the picture here
