Sid if a guy with all your experience doesn't have the patients for a sock machine then I am going to add them to my list of things I fear and loath ( with little slavic circus midgets, big hairy spiders, small North American cars, and drink stirers that look like swords )

Doug/ I can hold my own on a lot of things... but when a machine has a supporting group just to learn how to use it... I think I am going to watch for a few days//(joinsockknittingmachinefriends@yahoogroups.com)//////sid

middle of nowhere:
When I was your age I was realy into small engines too ( as were most people here I guess ).
But keep your priorities in order ( girls ) and keep your marks up in school.
If your lucky and your realy develop some skill and put a little wrench time behind you by your 20's you'll find a job that doesn't get your hands too dirty but keeps your mind buisy.
A wise engineer once told me you must keep your hands on the product as much as the prints if you want to be good at something.

Sid:
you already belong to a roid suport group, your probably too buisy for another lol.

From the wood gassification group I heard about lister diesels and there advantage in duel fuel engines (wood gas and diesel). Since I was tired of listening to my 3600rpm diesel generator I came across this site and through the market place, purchased 2 listeroids and a ST generator from dirtbike last Feburary. Now that I had 2 engines I thought that I had better learn what I can about them and that has been my main reason for being in this group. I have been wanting to share what I've done so far and will shortly when I take some pictures. But, as a teaser for now, my 6/1 ST12 is used as a generator with 250 hours on it so far (I'm off grid) and my 20/1 I am setting up also with the ST12 to power an electric sawmill that I'm building.

I read about a guy in Fla. that had a listeroid that he  used to power his house after a couple of hurricanes. After Katrina hammered us I thought that a listeroid would be perfect.
