folks,
doesnt matter who started the name calling.  each of us can stop it.  All it takes is to just discuss ideas,  nobody here is any smarter that anybody else.  we all lnow a few things and are ignorant of many.  Put that hair trigger ego out to pasture.  Let that perceived insult just fly on by.  Dont be so darn sensitive that any comment enrages you.  Everything you really needed to know you should have learned in kindergarten.  Act like men whose emotional development has surpassed early adolescence.  Let's enjoy learing new stuff, and improving our lives.

Thanks, "Mother Zeke"

I miss Guy Fawkes posts, and would hate to see anyone else leave the forum over some pissing contest, especially about boats.

Captain Steven, congratulations on 100 years, awesome ship!

Sid, I figure my foundation is at least TWO tons. ;D

Cheers, Fred

What is the maximum angle of inclanation is it possible to run a petter PH2W, to fit the engine in my boat i will have to run the engine at 12 to 15 degrees off the horizontal, anybody had any experience in this field  ???

what i think is funny is that martinwill posted a question, never responded to any other questions......and the thread took off with a life of its own.

i noticed in other nautical forums, martinwill was posting questions concerning this project.  i hope he did not decide to escape from dodge based on a bunch of school boys in a dick measuring contest.

for my part in this, i am sorry.  there are very few things in life which are black and white - and the issues raised here are certainly that way.

Sorry chaps for not replying, i forgot about the post, having asked so many questions elsewhere and not ticked the notify of replies box.. I have mansged to install the engine at 5 degrees tilt towards the stern which is ideal. the boat its going in is a displacement 16 foot cornish cove fishing boat and included is a picture of the engine (if I can get the download to work !!)
THANKS LADS

what is the device (structure) between the engine and the gear box.  is it some sort of heat exchanger/bilge pump?

did you do the mounting up yourself?

Hi

I'll take a stab and say it is a reverse  gear for a variable pitch prop.

Wow,  I guess that picture proves you can run a marine diesel mounted 90 degrees off level!!

its a starting handle extension, there is no clearance for a handle on the flywheel. There is electric start on it as well.

Boat is a long way from launching, started with a bare hull and i am slowly working my way  through it. engine is ready to fit. cash is the main problem, everything marine is as if you just add an extra zero !!
