How do I start this thing????
« on: November 26, 2006, 12:16:05 AM »
Sorry for the total newbiness of this question, but I am stumped. I have a Powersolutions 6/1 that I have never had running and I decided to get it going, but now it's all ready and I can't get it to start. I found a manual and it told me to do some things that I couldn't do because I have no idea what they are talking about. I filled the fluids like the manual said, oil and diesel. I primed the fuel pump and turned the cut-off hand lever down, but I don't see a lube oil pump hand lever compression c/o valve or valve lifter? I'm sure I just don't know what I'm looking for, but will some one help me out?

Thanks.

Clay

Would it help if I put up pictures of what I'm talking about?

I'm going off of this manual here:

Also how do I check if the fuel pump is working properly?

HELP!!! Please!!! I'm off grid with no power using my truck with a power inverter to run thing now, so I really need this thing to get up and running!!!

Hello Clay,
Try http://utterpower.com/Lisrun.htm

It has a LOT more info than  what you are looking at. Also, George's CD has everything you need on it.

Step 1)  Get the Utterpower CD     www.utterpower.com    After viewing you will probably realize that you don't want to start it quite yet. The CD has information worth many times the cost.

Step 2)  I'd check on this forum and see if there's anyone local to you who could give you a hand. Might save you some expense or personal injury. These aren't the kind of engines that like to be rushed and could be dangerous if not set up properly.

I'm in northern california. If anyone wanted to come take a look, I would be greatful.

The guy that got me into these things a year ago went through it with me. I had the CD and we took a look at it together. Everything seemed ok and all. He's gone now and he took the CD. I'll order another one, but money is pretty tight right now. I'm sure it will help, though. I'll read that link as well.

Should the fuel pump be moving back and forth as the flywheels turn? I hope that makes sense?

Thanks for the help

hope you can find some one close by to give you a hand... some time it is like catching a bear, it can be hard to turn loose, if you are not familiar with the working parts and unsure of how it works, let it sit until you are more familiar with it,maybe some one in your area will give you hand//sid
