I bought mine from Sam about 1 year ago .It is a 16/1  inside was very clean , found a broken tank insulator, talked to Sam and before I could turn around the replacement was in my mail box, also had the fuel filter leaking , talked to Sam and he sent me  one  but the second one leaked also  ended up buying 1 from cmd now no more leaks .  Only have about 12 hours on it but even in 4* temp it starts and runs fine .I have some photos here lister photo gal . hydraulic starter.  Am thinking about buying spare parts from Sam for future use
SAM VERY GOOD GUY

I'm not sure of the pressure on the lister's injector  but alot of the old diesel's injection pressure was 2300 to 2800 pounds.  Something to think about if you are thinking of shut off's in the injector line.

Lister Based Generators / Re: off grid today

I don't know about the 120v, never tryed it before .  But if you have two hot water tanks take the heaters out of 1 of the tanks and connect a heat exchanger to where the heaters came from, now with the cooling of your engin connect into the heat exchanger and heat the heat exchanger with your engin. When the heat exchanger becomes hot it will automaticly circulate the water in the hot water tank.  Connect the in from the out on the hot water tank so 1 tank feeds the other one the second tank has the electric heaters.  This will help the electric tank becouse example before you are putting in 36 degree wate that needs to be heated to 120.  After heat exchanger change you would be putting in 90 degree water  and trying to heat to the 120.  You can see from example your 120 volt heater need to work a lot less.

Welcome C. I have a metro 16/1  so maybe I can help you a little .  First thing turn down the govenor some\, mine came in the crate cranked to the max. I had the same experience with the dancing, the wooden pallet is not meant for starting ( I can tell you from experience ) for after I made a heavy metal frame and mounted the engin , I was very much suprized to see how smooth my engin ran  NEEDS A GOOD FRAME.  I had turned down my govenor before starting , so I didn't have an over speed issue thank god\!   But you really need to have it mounted to a frame , seems like the pallet adds more spring to it some how.  I was scared to try to start it again after my first time but again the frame makes all the difference.

Hi I am a new bee also  I have a 16/1 with a 10kwt head .  The engin is set to run at 1000 from the factory. I have my engin set at 650  and the governor still seem to work pretty well.  I would think about a battery  setup thou.  My plan is to use a forlift battery and charger and charge 6 hrs 1 day a week.  With a industrial battery charger you will have a decent load on the engin, and the load won't be changing that much so a slower govenor responce won't be an issue.  Also you engin is water cooled but the gen head needs a good supply of cooling air something to think about when making you gen shed /storm shelter.

Hello Quisp, I have a Metro 16/1  not the 6/1  when I first started my engin on the pallet it jumped and hopped and shook the fuel out of the tank.  I was scared it was going to tip over my engin crain that I kep attached to it.     I mounted it to a good frame now and the engin is very calm now.  So I think you are on the right track now with the 2 ton cement block.
Good luck and keep us posted
