Listeroid Engines / Re: Weight of 6-1 with 5kw ST head on frame w/wheels

Chris,

Drive each tire, one at a time, over a bathroom #300 scale. If lucky, you wont break the scale and you will obtain four (4) weight measurements which could be added together to get a total.

I concur, back in 2005 when I joined the forum, became interested in Listeroids, and started buying stuff, he was a tremendous help. He is a really nice guy, I wish him well.

Generators / Re: CGG ST heads- warning- aluminum windings

Chris, my ST 15 can from the same shipment as yours about 10 years ago. I also had the low voltage issue but solved it with a 220 voltage regulator from Tom Osbone and a series of CAPs on the DC side. Now it is also hot in the 240s and 120s. Interesting on the Al windings, I also wonder.

Things I want to Buy / Re: FREQUENCY SENSOR
« on: July 27, 2016, 05:53:10 PM »
I use one of these to pull my fuel rack closed is there is a loss of power out if the generator. For example, if a belt broke, the device would shut the engine down due to loss of power. Same for over heat, separate circuit attached. If I had it to do over, I would have the magnet engage and hold a switch on. Thus when the engine lost power or speed, a big spring would pull the switch into the off position due to loss of power and thus the magnet holding it on would disengage. This system could easily pull a relay.

Generators / Re: Frequency/Voltage Meter for ST gensets

MPJA (online mail order company in Florida) just placed this multi function meter on sale for $18.70. I post this for review because if I had it to do over again, I would not use the large analog gages to monitor each function and then install a switch to flip between line Line 1 and Line 2. I would just buy two of these meters, one for each line, and be done.

I have purchased most of the meters seen on the next page for various applications related to Listeroid, power cables with built in meters, ATVs, motorcycles, etc. All have worked very well. The bonus for me is the store is local so I just online order and arrange for front desk pickup.

The other mail order site I use has better prices and a MUCH greater selection but a week or so wait due to shipping

I know it is not mechanical but use Grundfos home hot water circulation pumps on each of my listeroids: Cujet and Rocketboy, also run them on each of their engines. Never had one fail, but each of has spares. These can be purchased for around $60 each if you shop and buy two at a time. When set on the lowest possible setting, and circulating water past a thermostat, they do a really nice job.

I have been a loyal devotee since 2005 and gotten immeasurable amounts of useful information. His site led me to my most enjoyable hobby (listeroids).

I too frequently check his web site while surfing around and noticed nothing new for many months. I also wondered if he is well.

I was thinking this 12 VDC pump might work if I restricted the flow. 3+ gallons a minute is 2.5 more gallons than I believe I need.

I have a 6/1 metro with no built in oil pump. Been looking at junk yard power steering pumps and such but I really like the small gear pump featured on the video. Does anyone have a suggestion for a small gear driven pump? Must be cheap. Or at least cost effective, I am horse poor you know.
