Generators / Pulley size
« on: October 27, 2008, 04:31:25 PM »
According to my calculations, with 23" flywheels at 650 rpm and an 1800 rpm generator I would need an 8.X" size pulley on the generator and not the 11.x" I got with it. The engine seems to be turning really fast to get 60 hz. But I don't have a tach to see what the speed of the engine is. What size gen pulley should I have?

Generators / What to expect?
« on: October 17, 2008, 12:21:13 PM »
Hopefully by next week my 6-1 ST5 genset will be finished (I know! it will never be finished) What can I really expect to run or not to run with this? My biggest loads would probably be a big microwave, electric stove, large capacity clothes dryer and submersed well pump. I will be running pretty much everything for fuel wmo, wvo, biodiesel.

Listeroid Engines / Engine mounting
« on: September 15, 2008, 06:10:19 AM »
I plan on mounting my 6/1 to a frame made of 8" I-beam and was thinking of putting some urethane caulk (the stuff for car windshields) between the engine and frame. I figure it might fill in any voids in the casting for support and give a little cushioning. There would still be some metal to metal contact of course. Any opinions?

Listeroid Engines / First post
« on: September 14, 2008, 04:20:01 PM »
Hello, I am the proud owner of a new Listeroid sitting in the middle of my garage floor. Its a 6/1 Powerline by Anand I'm hoping to generate power and have fun with. I'm waiting for a price on an ST gen head. Hard to believe I just learned of these engines 6 or 7 weeks ago on YouTube. I was searching alternative fuels and stumbled upon a video of a man I believe in England who was showing off this interesting engine/generator he was running on WVO in a shed behind his house, think he had a laptop graphing its heat output or something. I googled the name of the engine and the rest is history. He could be a member of this forum, if he is, my wife thanks him ;). I have since watched many videos and read many posts on these engines. Ive got a bunch of newbish questions and hopefully some good answers, ideas and opinions. Ive been a mechanic for over twenty years.

Newbie Question #1: The inside of the crankcase is very clean, I wiped around it with a rag.(its already been "Tested" by Powerline) Someone did a pretty good job with a die grinder making the inside smooth but it isn't painted or sealed and has almost no rust. Is it necessary to paint or seal the inside of the case?
