« on: August 27, 2019, 07:15:26 AM »
Sort of on the subject of welders. I have got sick of waiting for the welder. To make my generator frame. For the mighty ZS195  and its 5kw friend.
So i went a bought myself one.  https://www.tradetools.com/product-range/welding-equipment/welding-machines/renegade-140-amp-inverter-arc-welder-20-duty-cycle
140 amp inverter 10amp power point operastioon gloves, auto dacking mask, an d chipping hammer.
All for $200. even though in a pack of 6018 and so old bits of plate for me to start practicing on.
I last welded in 1975. so this might be entertaining, im thinking.

So all your welding talk has fired me up to have a go.So were do i sign up for lessons.

Changfa Engines / Re: China diesel

well there still made.
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/surplus-diesel-engine-ZS1115-CHANGGONG-water_60368555990.html

And seem no worse than all the others. Go have a look at it and see what you think.
You could bring a new one in for the same money if you wont to do the customs thing.
Always fun. The engine is about 15 years old, but if it hasn't had a lot of use its still a 22 hp engine with electric start.
 ;D

Impressive as it is,my favorite moment was sticking the blade of a screwdriver inside the ring spanner. So it would "fit" the nut.
I never would of thought of that. lol

5
Is this the sort of thing your talking about.

Yes the mega listeroid, have sen pictures i thin k it was supposed to be about 18hp. Don,t know it it ever shipped or if it was just a prototype?

General Discussion / Solar Split System Inverter Air Conditioners
« on: July 24, 2019, 05:07:24 AM »
Have seen a few adds for these lately and wondered if anyone had any practical experience with them, or of them.
I have lots of panels, so powering one wouldn't be very difficult.

Solar Split System Inverter Air Conditioners

Here is the sales pitch;

HYBRID Solar AC units are as the name suggests. They run directly off solar panels during daylight hours or when their is sufficient sunlight and mains power in the evening or at times of limited sunlight. They can also run on a combination of solar and mains power.

Ideal applications include Businesses, Schools, Offices, Site Camps or wherever heating or cooling is required during the days they run for free when there is sufficient daylight.

STAND ALONE 48 volt 100% Off Grid units run completely off solar panels and charge a battery bank for use during the evening or at times of little sunlight.

Perfect for any off grid application such as remote communities, Islands, farms, mining sites or off grid residential use.

Solar AC, both Hybrid and Stand Alone is Proven Technology with hundreds already installed in Australian Telco towers to cool equipment and batteries.

So you know all i know about them now.

Yes and no. The unit uses a proximity sensor to count the teeth on the prime power flywheel. To monitor the engine speed.
The mighty Shifing is hand started so the flywheel has nothing to count. An one of the boys decided they needed it for a job they were doing so, I'm out of luck.

Lister Based Generators / Re: Alternator Hz tip

Buy yourself one of these and connect in to the generator output.
The 20Amp version has its own internal shunt so the power go's straight through it at all times and you have volts, Freq, watts, Kwh, amps, all for less than the cost of a few beers.
Got 4 of them on things. I know Glort collects them.

« on: June 01, 2019, 12:59:08 PM »
Might help.

my zs 195 manual says head bolts to 25 kgf.m (kilogram force meter)
If my math is correct that's something like  180 foot pounds.

Most of the ones you can get these days have a vacuum operated servo, so no go.
