Hi Gentles

Gantry crane is done, and aproved.... by wife.

It only needs to be tested with the desired load limit!.

Hi Gentles

A few time ago I was told a very rusty iron still seated on a field.

Today I made a divert of... 200km to see it.

I think it looks worse than it is... off course its seized! I was told its seated under weather since my spotter remembers!

Couldn't make any better pics, because there was a shepherd dog warning me that was its place.

Anyway, ill try to fetch it.

Hi Gentles

My apologies to not share in last post some TLC to my latest acquisition, a Hilux 1992, that needed to tweak the injection pump (spill time was set a beat early, making it to sound a dry knock).

To pull out crank pulley I made some basic tools from "NASA's" plans, in order to reach the timing belt.

A few pics to enjoy...

General Discussion / Re: Engine identification Lister-Petter HR2
« on: April 11, 2021, 12:29:33 PM »
Hi Chris

I think Cobba pin the point, and if you have a micro budget, dont jeopardize it. An HR (2, 3, 4 or 6) are direct injection and high RPM.

LEF members that uses WMO or WVO has low RPM engines Lister CS or listeroids, and thoes "fuels" need fine filtering, centrifuge to separate water, mixing to start and even heating to flow better.

Do you really need 10 KW? or 5 or 3 is sufficient?

Just a few cent to the rant!

Hi Chris

Yes Metalurgica Duarte Ferreira was a Portuguese farm equipment manufacturer, colonial war army trucks and other machinery  and a Lister importer from England, for PT market.

Just scratch the paint around and you will find ID plate.

Usualy "marineized" engines are engines that are originaly air cooled and modified to water cooled.

Hi gentles, and specially Bruce

Thanks Bruce for identifying the Z axis flaw.

Take a look for the solution I'm preparing, I will do the locking between the beam extension and the legs. (extension protrudes 0,5m inside, and out of the beam).

Off course it will need more improvements, but it will get somewhere!

Stay all safe.

Petteroids / PETTER - PAZ1 - Gantry (A frame) crane... almost done
« on: March 20, 2021, 03:18:05 PM »
Hi Gentles

A crane is almost done. put it on wheels to see leveling and squareness.

Still have a design flaw... can you identify it? Feel free to give some opinion!

Stay safe

Gentles

Its not a matter of opinion, it's a fact... and against facts there are no arguments.

A few time ago lots of morons had destroy statues, ISIS destroyed monuments and churches. the ignorance or more the stupidity is the mother of all disgraces.

Just my few cents.

Hi Gentles

Some more cutting, drilling and grinding. A few measures by eyeball...

Tomorrow a few more rods will be burned.

Slowly we will get there!

Stay safe.

Hi Gentles

Well, steel took its place in the jig (the wall and the floor with a bubble level, and a few sharps of wood to made all square).

A few knee calculations, and a fast read in NASA's welding book (dindnt work, or my reading couldnt get it). I made Stef's (dieselspaner) way: weld, angle grinder, weld again, a soft touch with angle grinder, and voilá! if not, repeat cicle!

After being satisfied, got supper.

Some pics for our members.

And, please stay safe.
VP

Ps: beam will be also 3" tube thicker wall, with a 2,5" thicker wall tube inside to reinforce (both 2m length). I'm expecting to lift my 12/2 with this crane. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Hi Gentles

After getting more steel to make the crane, here is the latest developments:
Making plan to set angle of triangle, and trim bottom of pillars in order to be squared to weld wheels plate.

A few pics to enjoy.

Hi Bruce

Don't idolatre Butch, He's just an old guy wom thinks know some stuff.

But a WIS (means well informed source) told me this kind of fly balance by eye ball were passed to him by his grandson (belive me), and his grandkid said this will only will work just in one axis (say X), but you can have an inbalance in Y axis (dont ask me what is it, because I only got elementary school), but for low rpm it will work.

Well, so far some of our members said it works, so maybe it will work also with you.

Stay safe.
VP  ;D ;D ;D

PS: by the way Bruce, how do you call that fly?
