Why not have a look at the products from this company? they have several different models including motor and oil driven centrifuge.

a paper napkin calculation of the flow mass of that turbo put it in the ballpark for the 6/1 and 12/2 engine.

This stuff WORKS!  I've used it to save rusty tools and such.

Mr Lister

I totaly agree with you, but what I was trying to get at was we need to find a way to buuild them for less money, that pretty much eliminates metal casting of any kind. Remember metal is not the only building material on this planet.

That was kind of my point to not use cast iron, but you bring up a good point Gerdau Ameristeel in Perth Amboy is just a few miles from me. :-\

I was considering for a start importing the rotating assembly and maybe the head. Everything else would be made locally.

Good question what would it take to retrofit an ST head so it can start the Lister?

The chain sounds like a good idea.

Seeing as half the cost of a new roid is the shipping, could a domestic copy compete if the maker was to employ modern manufacturing practices, and material substitutions?

What other Countries make Lister type engines? I'm surprised China isn't making them, They make really good copies of the Yanmar diesels.

anyone know how long the valve stems are for a 6/1?

Darren

titainium valves sound like a cool idea, but how would you extend the stems? weld two of them togeather?

What about boring out a carbon fiber tube and epoxy them togeather? or just a carbon tube with a Ti head.

  Snow and traction---

I have a 'new' snowplow that has a spare blade in the back.  I have a LOT of traction. It's 3,000 pounds...but I want to USE it and can't UNLOAD it!!

This is a very unusual winter here--- snow then rain, then freeze, then snow.  I've pushed snowbanks on 16 miles of road with the 'little' plow until the road is narrow and there's nowhere to push the additional slush and drifted snow....the BIG truck will do that today.  The 4-71 Detroit is loping and smoking as I type.  The whole canyon is hazy with smoke from the warm-up.

This is a SERIOUS snowplow!

1954 FWD Highway plow with a dump body that don't work.   Four wheel drive with differential locker and four wheel steering.
Starts well, runs well,  no brakes, yet.   :o

Why not attach a chain to the plow and drive away to pull the plow out?
