Engines / Re: ST1 new cylinder and piston assembly
« on: February 14, 2018, 07:20:52 PM »
All clear!
Found the data needed for measuring, only the manual is not really clear about the clearance.

Under the initial clearance there are several values specified
for the ST engine.
We have :

Fire ring gap
0.70 mm
0.41 mm
0.55 mm

Compression ring gap:
0.55 mm
0.26 mm
0.40 mm

Scraper ring gap:
0.65 mm
0.36 mm
0.50 mm
(http://www.winget.co.uk/document/LISTER%20ST%20WORKSHOP%20MANUAL.pdf , page 125)

Since there are just 5 rings, the values make no real sense to me as a layman, or I am misinterpreting the values. In the SL manual (the other engine I have) the values are more clear "Between .20 and .50 mm".
Any thoughts on this?

Thanks again!

Engines / ST1 new cylinder and piston assembly
« on: February 14, 2018, 01:49:08 PM »
Today I received my brand new (original LP) ST1 cylinder and piston assembly.
Although assembling it back to the engine is pretty straight forward, I do have a question about the piston rings.

As far as my knowledge goes, piston rings have to be mounted in a certain orientation (gaps). Since this assembly was already mounted, I am not sure if I should take it apart and review the orientation (the bottom oil scraper will come out, in order to mount the connecting rod), or leave the assembly as is..
In case some of you have suggestions on the best practice regarding this, please also let me know what the orientation should be.

Thanks!

Great! Do you also ship to NL? Saves me a lot of searching (needle haystack kind of thing) and we have some little business.
What will be the big total with shipping?

Thanks, again!

Thanks Dieselgman for the heads-up.
Do you by any chance have the partnumbers for the missing parts?

I will try to track them down. Or maybe find my luck here on the forum.
Thanks!

Engines / Lister Fuel lift pump ST1
« on: February 01, 2018, 01:16:49 PM »
Dear all,

Let me briefly introduce myself. I am Rik, 35 years old from the Netherlands.
Currently I am rebuilding a barnfind ST1 into a backup generator. The ST1 has completely been overhauled, due to serious neglect by the previous owner(s).
On the front side of the engine (next to the oil filter) I found a mount, for what appears to be a fuel lift pump. Since a lot of parts on this engine were either broken or missing, I bought a lift pump for my purpose.

When browsing for the fuel lift pump I found a pump, for this particular ST1 (which has some kind of "lobe" on it), but it doesn't seem to match the engine. The lift pump which (in my opinion) should be mounted should have some sort of rod, which connects to the pump. So it should be driven by one of the cam lobes inside the engine (similar lobe as the oil pump I think).

Is anybody able to shed a light on this matter? Do I have the wrong pump (HFP115) or am I missing some parts on the ST1 side?
Your help is highly appreciated.

Many thanks!
