Original Lister Cs Engines / My Lister engine HP2, RPM1000
« on: August 23, 2008, 07:05:07 PM »
I inherited from my father a Lister engine. I heard it running in the year 1995. It's in good shape. All the time had it's oil (I refreshed it etc)
My first question is: Can anyone tell me more about this motor? (serial# 1267LD1212) year of built etc. etc.
second question, I cannot make it run. I tried a lot, but it is heavy and has (I think) a lot of compression.
third question, I like to use it like a generator. What do I need?
You have to know I am not technical, so explain me please in understandable English, Dutch, German or Spanish language

I did sent Troy and SB18 just 4 photo's by mail, so You can see where we are talking about. I wil sent it to Gerry too.
If anyone wants to see the photo's also, ask me and I will mail them to You.
I just checked again the serialnumber. It is " LD", SB18. Do You know what year it was build? Like to know. And I like to see the owners manual. It would be a great help. You can also fax it to me, if there are not to many pages. fax/phone# (0057) Colombia and then 4-5515304.
And Troy, I will work on it and let You know.
And Gerry,..To open the engine I am a little bit scared for that, but I have to so.... But it made sense about the dry cilinders. The motor didn,t work since 15 years ago! I only shipped it from Holland to Colombia 2 years ago.
I am going to work on it. I am going to read Your articles good and will use it as a manual.
Thanks All of You, and keep contact.
Auke.

Troy,
wauw, You are a great help!
First to tell You I've got to translate the technical English with my dictionary into Dutch language. (I will manage) I am living in the Andes Mountains near Medellin Colombia and the temperatures at night are not below 7 centigrade celcius and in daytime not more than 25 centigrade celcius. (that's about the oil, which I am going to buy today , to refresh the old oil.) How many liters or gallons (I am thinking in the metric system)I have to put in?
All what You are mentioning, I can give a positive answer to You. When I lift the little brass handle on top of the motor (I think that,s what you mean by the compression release lifter)the engine spin fleely and easily. There is compression!! But there is a little button on top where the exhaust pipe comes out. What's that thing? I cannot move it up or down. correctly? it,s silver coloured.
I did put in fresh fuel (diesel fuel) I bled all the air out of the little pipes with the little button(screws) And there is a "clanck" sound
a "puff-puff" sound.
According to me there is no sufficient ignition.
I am going to work on it and the translations, and come back to You.I am going to make a pcture of it and try to put it on this site. Than You, and all the others get an idea where I and we are talking about.
Thanks,
Auke.

Hi Troy,
Thanks for Your reply. Yes I've got all the tools I think. I am not an expert, but are little handy with those tools.
I cleaned the fuel-filter. I repaired the fuel-tank. There was a hole in it and brought it for repairing. There's enough motoroil in it.
More than nescesary, I think. It is still from my fathers days. He used the moter on a milking machine for his cows.
But to put new oil in it, what kind of motor-oil needs it. At the top is a little (brass)handle. A gas-handle I think.
When I use the crank to let the motor run, it is very hard and it is not giving the motor is's push to run Doesn't get his ignition (I think)    What to do?
Auke.
