I have a 8.5" 8 groove serpentine pulley that I built for a customer who has since fallen on hard times. I'd like to sell the pulley to someone who can put it to good use. It weighs around 28 lbs and is sized for a SK taper bushing. It uses a standard automotive K section belt which is available in just about any standard length and will be available at any auto parts store.  Price is $125 and I'll pay the shipping anywhere in the US. Its bright and shiny in new condition. Satisfaction guaranteed!

My wife lost her job so I'm raising money to pay off the mortgage. Up for sale are 2 Lister CD diesel engines. One runs and the other is a parts engine.

The parts engine needs the head rebuilt, needs rockers, valves, springs and push rods. The bore looks good and the engine rotates freely and smoothly.

I imported these engines from England and have $1800 tied up in them. That is the selling price. I can fabricate many of the parts needed to get the parts engine running for additional payment by copying the needed parts from the running engine.

The engines are at my machine shop in Rutherfordton, NC 28139

Generators / Dead ST 15 KW and up generator head
« on: June 09, 2009, 03:33:51 AM »
Does anyone here have a dead ST generator head 15 kw or more? Several years ago I rewound one for 12 pole 600 rpm operation. I finally sold that one after getting many requests. I'm looking for a dead or burned out unit to rewind as a 12 pole unit using neodymium magnets on the rotor instead of the custom made wound rotor I built on the last one I rewound. As the rpm goes slower it takes more wire, turns, and 3X the iron of a 4 pole generator. A 15 kw core would only make 5 kw at 600 rpm direct coupled to a Listeroid.

If anyone has one for sale please let me know.

Thanks,
Mike Montieth

General Discussion / Thieved Again!
« on: June 20, 2008, 11:23:55 PM »
My shop was broken into this week and a lot of GM-90 spares were taken, along with my socket sets, wrenches, 2 chainsaws, a 30 lb jug of freon 22, and probably more that I haven't noticed yet. Some of the items taken were a stack of extra heavy flywheels for the Lister type engines. I had patterns made in India, had the castings poured and machined, had them shipped from Rajkot to Mumbai, and then from there to Charleston, SC, and then to my shop in Rutherfordton, NC. The thieves probably have no idea what they were for and by now they are most likely on their way to China as scrap iron. But, on the off chance that they show up on Ebay, or a show I'd appreciate a heads up so I can check it out. Folks, our iron is heavy and that is what the thieves are looking for. Be safe and keep them secure.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Container Shipping From England
« on: October 12, 2007, 02:45:17 AM »
We will be filling another container in the very near future for shipment to the eastern US. We already have a fair number of engines coming but perhaps there will be room for more. If you are interested in getting anything shipped contact me off forum and we'll see how we can work out the details. Once the engines arrive in the US I get very reasonable shipping rates. For example, I can ship an engine anywhere in NC for $65. Engines going to CA will run around $300. Other states will vary accordingly. If we can fill a container we won't have to deal with the treated wood issues as the engines can be simply loaded into the container and we'll sort them out when they arrive. If this can be arranged it'll save us all a lot of money. Shipping will be at actual cost.

Listeroid Engines / An Affordable Electric Genset Governor?
« on: September 25, 2007, 02:34:58 AM »
I'm working on an inexpensive throttle governor for the Lister(oid) generators. I have a model bench tested and so far it works great. It has very  good speed regulation and can do away with the original governor. The original governor becomes a mechanical fail safe and actuates the compression release in the event of a fault or over speed condition. If deemed necessary the electronics can also be programmed to actuate a solenoid to activate the compression release and bottom the fuel rack in case of overspeed. I built this out of parts I had from my school junk box. I've ordered a set of production parts to make a run of 25. The price will be $50 or less depending upon volume and circuit board etching. If everything works out ok this will be a great way to control engine speed very precisely, and with only a turn of a rheostat. Factory units are quite expensive but I've built this one on the KISS principle with only the necessary bells and whistles. The tach/generator can be a common small dc motor and the actuator is a simple solenoid operated under pwm control. The governor has adjustable parameters so that any number of used or surplus parts can be matched to the control unit. The negative feedback loop controls the governor down to the millivolt level from the tach/generator. Thats .001 volt, and since the tach/generator signal is proportional to speed it holds as tight a frequency as the engine power pulses allow. The generator/control can sense  and adjust 20K pulses/sec. but the lister may only fire a few times per second so there may be a small lag but it probably won't be noticeable as the circuitry will be all over it if it steps out of bounds at all.

It could be set up another way also, the pwm actuator could be hooked up in tandem with the original governor which is set just below the desired speed and the electronics just "help" it up to speed and control the regulation. This, in theory, would be more of a fail safe option. These are some things I'm testing before selling any. It does look very promising though.! I'm looking at 2 versions, one with at 12v battery/alternator system, and a stand alone version using a small dc motor with a tach/generator to both generate the power to run the pwm throttle solenoid, and to supply power for the control.

I'll post more info in the Market Place when I have a production unit up and running.

Listeroid Engines / New Rules for Importers
« on: June 30, 2007, 12:08:58 AM »
Well fellows, the dept of homeland insecurity is at it again. If you're thinking of importing anything from engines to dog biscuits you'll need to be aware of this, as well as crating regulations, EPA, and anything else they can think of.

Listeroid Engines / EPA emissions testing update
« on: April 08, 2007, 03:21:15 AM »
My load of tier 1 engines are on their way here. I tested one last year and tuned it for Tier 1. The NOx limit for Tiier 1 is 10.5 gm/kwh. The GM-90 6/1 tested at 10.2, so no problem with importing them last year.

I have been doing additional testing for Tier 2 on the same engine and had the NOx down to 7.2 gm/kwh. The limit for NOx on Tier 2 is 7.5 gm/kwh.

I have done some additional modifications to the intake system and today a new emissions test was performed. This test had the NOx all the way down to 4.4 gm/kwh, which mets 2010 Tier 4.  The limit for NOx on Tier 4 is 4.6 gm/kwh.

HC is not a problem. CO tested at 1.2% (limit 6.6%) The original Tier 1 test had the NOx at 573 ppm at full rack and the test I ran today had only 149 ppm at full rack. This is doable, now I only need to work on PM to fully achieve Tier 4. Tier 2 for the rest of this year is not a problem. Now all I need is the bucks to complete the certification process.

Listeroid Engines / New Tier 1 Engine Photos 4/1-20/1
« on: March 22, 2007, 01:04:06 AM »
After much frustration with coppermine and many requests for photos I have uploaded some photos of the new engines. Most are already sold and so are not available, at least in the larger sizes. I had this batch special built with the extra-heavy flywheels, electric start, alternator, radiator, and side mounted water pump with a fan. I went all out on this batch and I think you'll agree. To see the photos go to:

www.photobucket.com and search for the listeroidsusa album. This is an example of what is possible out of India.
