a paper napkin calculation of the flow mass of that turbo put it in the ballpark for the 6/1 and 12/2 engine.

Listeroid Engines / Domestic Listeroid

Seeing as half the cost of a new roid is the shipping, could a domestic copy compete if the maker was to employ modern manufacturing practices, and material substitutions?

Listeroid Engines / Listeroid makers

What other Countries make Lister type engines? I'm surprised China isn't making them, They make really good copies of the Yanmar diesels.

How many people here operate their Listeroid in or near their living space, and do you have CO detectors?

Listeroid Engines / improving heat recovery of Lister type.

following cujets mention of the Honda combined heat and power unit.

Can anyone think of ways to recover more waste heat from their Listeroid?

Listeroid Engines / What is the max peak cylinder pressure?
« on: January 11, 2006, 02:35:58 AM »
What is the maximum peak cylinder pressure a Listeroid will withstand before some type of damage will occur? IE head gasket or bent parts?

Listeroid Engines / 40/1....?
« on: December 31, 2005, 09:40:22 PM »
After playing with the turbo calc I was able to get around 40 HP from a one cylinder running at 1000 RPM (running at 650 RPM would cause the turbo to cross into the surge region of the map).

This would require using two GT15 turbos to compound the boost to 44.1 PSI, and the use of an intercooler or water injection.

I was able get a simalar result on a 12/2 at 650 RPM with 44.1 PSI boost. This is of course if their is sutable exhaust gas mass flow to support the level of boost.

After reading how an ammonia based cooling system works I'm curios as to if we can run such a system from the waste heat from our listeroids.

Listeroid Engines / >190*F Thermostat?
« on: December 31, 2005, 01:48:57 AM »
How does one go about regulating the coolent temp to something greater than 190*F?

The reason I ask is the listeroid seems to run a bit cool, and a higher running temp should reduce fuel comsumption as well as reduce carbon buildup.

Listeroid Engines / DI Head

Do the Direct injection Listeroids use a flat top piston?

does anyone know of a piston from another diesel that has a 4.5" piston with the toroidal combustion chamber in it?

Original Lister Cs Engines / 3 or 4?
« on: December 27, 2005, 02:47:53 PM »
Were their Lister 3 and 4 cylinder slow speed diesels? If so does anyone have any old documentation?

Lister Based Generators / custom ST generator heads.
« on: December 26, 2005, 07:31:47 PM »
If we can get new rotors wound with the extra poles the generators can be direct driven, I think that this configuration is more reliable than belt driven installations.

EDIT I should have clarified the direct drive generators are intended to be driven by a 2 cylinder engine.
