Lister Based Generators / 3"flat belt for generator drive
« on: January 06, 2009, 04:28:22 PM »
Hi All,

Can anyone give (from experience) advise on running a generator on a Lister 6/1 using a 3"flat belt. I have been trying one out and am having tracking issue's and its not doing what the text book say's it should. The flywheel and gen pulley were both flat, i am having a crown put on the gen pulley to try that next.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Cs 6/1 re-lives
« on: December 14, 2008, 09:56:31 PM »
I would like to thank the forum and its members for all the help with photo's and information i have gleaned over the last few months. My lister lives again.  She has only had a short 10 minute run but all seems well, i shall take a look inside for peace of mind and now concentrate on building her mount, generator and water system into my bio-diesel reactor and house heating system. Oh and electric starter.  ;D

   Cheers all.  Steve

Generators / 10Kw gen on lister 6/1
« on: November 26, 2008, 10:28:22 AM »
Hi All,
I am rebuilding a lister 6/1 for my CHP system, my question is the only Generator i can get readily is a 10Kw, whilst i appreciate the engine would only be good for around 3 Kw (and thats all i need) are there any reasons why i shouldn't use this size.

  Thanks Steve

Original Lister Cs Engines / Lister CS crank gear timing mark
« on: October 28, 2008, 11:29:30 AM »
Hi Everyone.
My cs 5/1 was badly seized at every possible place so during dismantling i was unable to put timing marks where needed. Now i'm getting ready to rebuild i find that neither the old or new crank have a timing mark on them. Can anybody help with a good picture or accurate way of describing where it might be. The cam gear and idler gear have timing marks.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Lister Cs big end shells
« on: October 21, 2008, 09:31:49 PM »
Can anyone run through the fitment of new big end shells to the conrod and then conrod to crankshaft ? i have new shells, new shims, and new crank, reading the manual does not make total sense to me. Ie i'm not sure what the shims are used for (they are not mentioned) but assume its to aid fitting the shells to the conrod maybe !

 Thanks Steve
