Other Fuels / Gasoline & Kerosine Mix?
« on: June 29, 2008, 04:29:30 AM »
Anyone have any thoughts on doing a little gasoline and kerosine mixing in a gas generator.  I've been running my 195 Dungfong (as in Changfa) on straight Tiki Torch oil, which I guess is mostly Kerosine, and it's been doing wonderfully.  Of course I'm mixing a little two stroke oil at a 50-1 mix for the injector pump and injector.

I've been adding about a 1/2 gallon of the torch oil to about 4 gallons of gas to my gas generator and so far have no ill effects, but I'm a little nervous to go any further.

Other Fuels / TIKI TORCH FUEL
« on: April 26, 2008, 04:42:46 AM »
I thought that I'd read somewhere here that somebody had run Tiki Torch Fuel in their diesel.  I just found a quite large supply of it (about 700gallons) that I can buy quantities of 70 gallon cases for about a hundred bucks.  Any opinions what it might do to my 195?

Generators / WINCO generator head
« on: March 09, 2008, 01:31:43 AM »
I have a couple of 195 Chinese Singles that both power 8kw Winco generator heads.  They were both mfg. in 1980 and are supposed to be of the 4 bearing variety.  I did start to have a problem with one of them just befor the Old Diesel took a dump.  I had a voltage surge that blew out one of my power strip/surge protectors and I noticed that it was
only puting out about 50+htz.

I got a parts breakdown from Winco.  They show that it use 8 separate brushes, two of them just to excite (what ever that means).  I'm not an electrical wizard.

Anyone have any experience with these?

Waste Vegetable Oil / NEWBE WVO/ATF/ PROCESSING AND FILTERING
« on: March 06, 2008, 09:33:22 PM »
I could use a little bit of help here.  I've been wandering through a bunch of this site trying to find some kind of basic instructions for setting up a processing system for something like ATF or WVO to use with my 195 Chinese Diesel.  Can someone PLEASE send me in a direction that might help.  Please take note, that I'm an old truck driver, and not a rocket scientist or even a borderline genius.

Other Fuels / ATF.....WHO'S USING IT?
« on: February 18, 2008, 02:35:33 AM »
Being new hear, I've read just a little about some using ATF in their diesels...Possibly mix it with diesel?  I'm interested in "other fuels" that don't take a big process to run.

Other Slow Speed Diesels / NEWBIE INTRODUCTION

Howdy ya'all from sunny Bagdad....................................................................Az............

I just figured that I'd jump in here and introduce myself.  I'm an equiptment operator for Phelps/Dodge (now it's really Freeport McMoran)......   I live out in the middle of nowhere and totally off the GRID.  I bought my 5 acre parcel and a 1940 Mine house about a year ago.  I did inherit a small solar setup and a Chinese Diesel and a Winco 8kw generator.  The Diesel was produce in 1980 and carries the brand name of Dungfong, but like everything else it's an identical clone to the Changfa.  Shortly after moving in the new place the Diesel progressively (as in quick) lost it's compression to the point that for a while it only fired up on starting fluid.  Currently it's scattered in pieces getting ready for me to order parts this comming week.

Now, in the middle of all this, I picked up another absolutely identical set up for the price of FREE, just get it out of here.  COOL, I figured I'd have a good parts machine that hasn't been run in at least ten years.  I couldn't resist the temptation to try and start it, just for the fun of it.  I swapped over my exhaust system, bought in a couple of batteries and my 55 gallon barrel that I have been using for a fuel tank.  I bled the fuel lines and went to turning it over with the starter, It managed to crank about a half dozen revolution's and actually FIRED and RAN.  Good compression, very smooth, makes a lot of noise and charges as it should.  What a deal huh?

Just ordered the parts from George Breckinridge to add the radiator and oil pressure stuff.
I'm expecting to learn a lot more from all of you, especially in the types of fuels to use.  You are all just stuck with me for the duration.....:):):) ::)
