I found a site with a parts kit for the single cylinder lister engine. I cant tell what is missing from it. If its complete, its a hell of a deal here in the states. If not, how much would it cost me to complete it?

Lister Based Generators / Ok, now I'm confused
« on: August 14, 2018, 01:14:31 AM »
I have finally gotten my ST2 on the floor in my garage, and started looking at the gen head (kohler). It fist appears to my uneducated eyes to be a 4phase generator? It seems to have 4 slip rings, but the data plate says single phase, 8.5kW.

What am I looking at in the pictures? And what is the cylindrical swirly thing?!

4 brushes

Original Lister Cs Engines / I GOT IT!!!
« on: August 13, 2018, 01:22:11 AM »
The guy called me today about the engine. I spent the last 5 hours on the road in pouring rain, but I got it home. The data plate does indeed say its an ST2. It has 1262 hours on it (or at least on the timer on the gen head). The owner started it up for me and it seems to run fine. He said he tried to run WMO in it, but it ran hot so he never tried again. Thats the main thing I'm worried about. What would make it run hot, and what do I need to check because of this?

The Kohler generator head produces power, (we tested it with an angle grinder). Now to get it off the truck and tear into it to learn how it works and clean it up. I want to restore it to like new condition, so if anyone know if it was the yellow color, or green, let me know. Also, and knowledge about the gen head would be extremely helpful!

Any information you can provide me about the engine will be greatly appreciated.

Original Lister Cs Engines / New member, with questions of course!

Hello all from Texas (USA), and thanks for allowing me into your world.

I'll be retiring in the next 3 months, and have been looking for a backup power solution for my farm. My research led me to the Lister engine/generators. I have been studying everything I can find about them, and started looking for local engines last week. For once in my life, I got lucky. I ran upon what I believe to be an SR2 in running order with a Kohler 8.5kW head, that also works fine. The owner agreed on 1000$ for the entire thing, and I will be picking it up next weekend (11 August).  I wanted to post up some pictures and make sure it is what I believe it to be, and that the price is good for what I am getting.

I will rebuild it, just for the knowledge gained, and be restoring to to like new condition.

Any opinions are welcome, and thanks again for letting me join!
