Other Slow Speed Diesels / Identify this Bamford?
« on: December 03, 2017, 09:00:29 AM »
Hi all.

Can anyone identify this Bamford Stationary engine?

Have the opportunity to pick it up here in Oz but dont know much about them. Has original water tank and original cardboard operation/instruction  page. Did a quick google search but there doesn't seem to be much info or spare parts at least here in oz. Its $300.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Lister CS fuel tank
« on: November 26, 2017, 09:16:08 AM »
I have managed to get my hands on what I believe  is the original fuel tank for my CS.

But it doesnt look like most of the ones that mount on the side of the unit and is a vertical cylinder type with float etc.

Were these mounted seperately or on the unit itself with some sort of bracket?

It had the remnants of the old lister sticker on it and instructions. Ive since given it a cleanup.

Original Lister Cs Engines / lister cs 3.5 valve timing for idiots
« on: November 04, 2017, 09:42:51 AM »
Hi all,
Putting my cs back together with new cam gear wheel.

The new gear wheel didnt have a timing mark on it but i had enough of the old one to be able to mark it on the new one.
Now according to the manual i have the "I" on the cam gear should match up to the "I" on the idler gear, but they also seem to say the keyway on the crank should be at 12 o'clock. To match these timing marks im not at 12 with the crank nor am i at TDC or BDC....
What am i missing here?

The idler gear has the "o" mark for the crank gear, but i havent got the crank cover off to see if that matches up.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Clear coating for bare metal components?
« on: October 29, 2017, 09:29:27 PM »
Hey all,

The Lister cs restoration is coming along nicely, cleaned, primed and repainted, and newcam gear installed and other components removed and cleaned.

Problem. The push rods, tappets, tappet holders, rockers and a few other bits are back to clean bare metal and all looking very nice and shiny. For a short time.  Ive notice that even after a couple of weeks surface rust blemishes are starting to appear. Is there some sort of clear metal protection you can paint/cover these things with that anyone uses? I dont really want to paint them if possible.

Sorry to be vague and for the poor quality of the picture

It has no plate on it and the word 'BUSCH', apart from that nothing.

Came with the Lister CS 3.5 and a switchboard.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Governor gear wheel weights
« on: September 25, 2017, 04:25:10 AM »
Hi to all and greeting from Vic Australia.

Got myself a Lister CS 3.5hp Diesel the other day. Pretty poor condition but hopefully bringing it back to life.

Had to replace Governor wheel gear as it had broken (my fault and don’t ask). I ordered a Listeroid one from a local person here as a replacement along with weights etc. I was able to salvage the old weights and pins etc.

When I went to assemble the gear and weights I noticed that the new weights were a different size (smaller) and presumably different weights. I believe the ‘new’ weights were for a Listeroid 6/1. Guessing the originals are different for a reason being a 3.5hp and I should use them as they fit?

Have it stripped down apart from one flywheel, which just happens to be the side I need to get the cam shaft out, that gib key just wont move….just time and patience I guess.

I’m sure I’ll have plenty more questions once I start the reassemble.

Cheers,

Cam.
