Lister Based Generators / Engine/Generator for Sale
« on: May 08, 2023, 01:06:52 PM »
I am selling my generator/engine. it has been in the same shed since it was installed, new, in the 70s. I have the original handbooks for the generator and the engine as well as a separate instruction book and parts list. it starts easily using a battery or crank. it has been well serviced and used very lightly. Run monthly for 30 mins or so and that is it so very low hours. i attach some photographs but feel free to ask away if you are interested in buying it. i thought i would advertise here before going to somewhere like eBay. buyer dismantles/collects for Berkshire, UK. Not sure what I want for it yet as i simply don't know what it is worth!

Lister Based Generators / Replacing Generator
« on: June 02, 2020, 11:14:26 AM »
I have decided to replace the Brush Generator(alternator?) attached to my lister engine with a new one. Can anyone tell me who, in the UK, i can contact to source an equivalent? I have been in touch with Meccalte and they say they cannot help. I attach a couple of photos. Any help/advice would be grateful received! many thanks. Alex

Generators / Batteries
« on: December 04, 2018, 11:12:14 AM »
This will seem to be a very silly question, for which I apologise. I assume that in order for the generator to generate electricity, that a battery does NOT need to be used to start the engine? If I just disconnect the battery and hand start the engine will there be any effect on the generator?
Thanks.

I have a manual for an SDA + SDT Generator (see below) if anyone wants a copy I will scan a PDF over to you.
also I have de-magnetised it by shutting down whilst it was still powering my house! Help, how do I re-magnetise it? I am a TOTAL novice so two questions:-
1. Is there an idiot's guide to doing this job myself (photo of generator plate below) or;
2. Can anyone recommend someone in the Berkshire (UK) area to do it for me?
Many thanks

Lister Based Generators / SCTF 2.25
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:58:40 AM »
I have a SCTF 2.25 on my Lister Generator. For some reason it has just stopped producing electricity. I have checked the brushes and they are ok (I think) and are pressing down ok from the springs. Can anyone help me and recommend a course of  action? I don't know how the thing works or what I should be looking out for. I am in the UK and would, ideally, like to get it serviced. Any help would be gratefully received! It has been run for about one hour a month for about 30 years from new , so not a huge amount of work done!

General Discussion / Please Help!
« on: February 18, 2014, 07:26:23 PM »
Ok I am brand new here ....what a great forum. I'm in the UK...I own a lister engine with a Brush SCTF 2.25 generator on it. For some reason it has stopped producing power. I have had no problems with it in the past.
I am pretty much technically incompetent and am looking for someone who can either assist me remotely or service it? I am based in Berkshire. Although it is probably 30 years old, having been bought by my father, it has only been run for about an hour a month throughout its life. I would appreciate any help.
I have had an electrician look at it and he says there is no power coming up from the generator into the box full of wires on top.....help!
Many thanks
Alex
