Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / Listeroid 6-1
« on: January 01, 2015, 04:25:50 PM »
It seems as I always have too many projects and too little time.
I have a 6-1 built in the summer of 2013 from DES.  It was thoroughly cleaned and sealed.  It was only run for minutes to fine tune the balance.  It has not been run to break it in yet.  It is balanced very well.  It will run just on 2 4x4's sitting on the garage floor.  I have an upgraded fuel filter installed.  I also have a new ST-5 from CGG and I have the pulley for the generator head.  I also have a 12 volt starter from one of the members.  I also have a gib key puller as well as a glow plug (not installed).  All that is needed to compete is a radiator and hoses and a belt.  This would be an excellent engine for on a cart since it is balanced so well.

I am selling everything together.  I will not part it out, because if it doesn't sell, I will eventually finish it.

$3640.00 cash only, picked up only.
I have an engine hoist and could load into a low trailer.

Located in Central Pennsylvania.

The following video's are of this engine running fastened to 2 4x4's which are just sitting on a concrete floor.

Listeroid Engines / cold weather starting question
« on: November 30, 2013, 03:33:55 PM »
I have a new 6/1 which I put together this spring.  I never had any problems starting it.  I wanted to see if it would start in cold weather.  It's 10 deg F.  I can't crank it through the compression stroke.  Is this normal or did I get weak?

Listeroid Engines / Gib key broke while running
« on: July 06, 2013, 12:38:14 AM »
Does anyone have any insight as to what would cause a gib key to break?

I had the shafts, and keyways and the keys clean and dry when I installed them.  I used a 4lb hammer and a punch and I thought that I had them in plenty tight.  They weren't in as far as they were originally, but they were no longer moving as I was driving them in.  I was careful to not hit them off square.  There were no obvious defects in them when I removed them.

This was my first time running the engine.  ( a 6/1 ). I ran it 3 times for no more than a minute as I was balancing it.  The next time as it started, the key broke.  Luckily the flywheel stayed on the shaft and just spun there freely until coming to a stop.

I want to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Thanks

Listeroid Engines / Camshaft end tapered pin
« on: May 08, 2013, 01:33:27 AM »
Anyone know why a tapered pin is used instead of a roll pin or a straight pin with a cotter pin in the end?

Is there any reason not to drill the hole out to use either option?

Generators / Generator voltage drops
« on: April 17, 2013, 02:55:10 AM »
I'm a member of a camp and we have a cheap 2500 watt propane generator which has started acting up.  The voltage will drop to around 30 volts and then it will go back up to 120.  It might last 3 seconds to about 30 seconds.  It starts doing this after it has been running for at least an hour.  It might do it a couple of times an hour or dozens of times.
It also seems the colder it is outside, the less it happens.  If it is below 20 degrees F, it may not do it at all.

The motor never cuts out when this happens.
Ideas or suggestions?

Listeroid Engines / Lift rings
« on: April 09, 2013, 02:28:50 AM »
Is there any reason not to lift with rings mounted on the cylinder head studs?
