Other Slow Speed Diesels / ONAN 11.5 DNAD
« on: July 03, 2012, 08:04:38 AM »
Hi all, I just got this Onan/Cummings genset. It has not been run for at least a year. The previous owner was not mechanically inclined and I suspect never had a proper load on her. I haven't found much useful info on the internet yet. Does anyone know about these? I paid $150 for the whole shebang.

Everything else / Wide Belt Driven Dust Collector
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:12:46 PM »
Hello Group,

I am thinking of running my dust collector with a Listeroid via wide flat belt. One problem is the impeller. It turns horizontally while Listeroid flywheels turn vertically. I've searched a bit on the net, but have not found a solution yet. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology. I was thinking of using a rear end off some vehicle... Anyone know how I could accomplish this in an efficient and simple way.

Listeroid Engines / Turbo Listeroid
« on: January 02, 2012, 12:23:32 AM »
Hi group,

Here is a video of the turbocharged 8/1 I built.

Originally I wasn't thinking TURBO, but felt I had to use more parts from that broken 300D I bought for the "Greasecar" system. There was too much stuff in that system to fit in my small gen shed. Plus I have been using blended fuels that don't need heating and dual tanks. I am breaking the clone in on red diesel though. Once I have 100 or so hours on her I'll see how she does on a 20% RUG/WVO blend. The turbo is a Garret T3. I didn't want engine oil in the turbo so I rigged up a open loop of copper. It thermosyphons. Next I'll replace the copper loop with a small oil cooler for more volume and cooling. I think the seals will hold since there is no pressure. Is there anyone with turbo experience out there that has any advice in this area?
