Engines / ph2w tickover
« on: March 24, 2009, 09:08:38 AM »
Ran the engine yesterday ,getting ready for the new season. rigged up a cycle speedometer to measure rpm at tickover.
it ticks over at 950 rpm but still dies at around 920rpm, so still looking for advice on how to lower the rpm to about 600.
done everything i can think of including getting the pumps serviced, new nozzles in the injectors, double checked the spill timing (13/16" on pump rack at 28 degrees btdc), removed and cleaned heads and valves, has full compression. It starts and builds revs with no problems.
This one has got me stumped and am looking for any surgestions.

Petteroids / PH2W spill timing
« on: December 07, 2008, 09:45:10 AM »
Does anyone know the distance between the index mark on the injector pump rack and the injector pump body when timing a PH2W (2000 rpm). I have a manual that covers the ph2 air cooled which states the distance as 13/16 inch at 28 or 24 degrees BTDC when spill timing. Is the distance the same on a PH2W ?.
The problem is i cant seem to get the tickover rpm down low enough or what i think is low enough as i dont have means of measuring rpm. I have seen a video of one running at tickover and its running at a lower rpm than i can get mine to run.
Engine has recently been de coked, injectors seviced with new nozzles and pumps overhauled proffesionally.
It runs great except if you try and lower the rpm at tickover, as if the fuel is cut off too soon.
Thanks
Martin.

Engines / Petter poor tickover
« on: April 25, 2008, 09:16:00 AM »
Finally got to run my petter ph2w for the first time in the boat today (still on dry land!), the problem is that it takes a while to start then once its running it revs up fine but once you release the throttle it will tick over for about 10-15 seconds then the revs drop futher then it stalls. The only way to prevent this is to keep the revs up higher than the 600rpm it should tick over at. Any surjestions welcome.

Petteroids / ph2w thermostet housing
« on: May 28, 2007, 09:35:43 AM »
Hi, i need a thermostat and housing for my ph2w (bolted on top of the watercooled exhaust manifold), took the the housing off as it was blocked, tried removing the 1/2" bsp banjo bolt from the end and of course it shattered the housing, the corropsion was that bad it had nearly eaten through the housing anyway.
does anyone know of a cheap parts supplier or possibly a thermostat housing off something else that would fit ?
