General Discussion / MY SINCEREST APPLOGIES
« on: September 30, 2011, 04:18:01 AM »
I know my life has had some drastic changes this year. I can only hope even though I was not able to complete the task of getting everyones engine over here I can only hope that it was my enthusiasm that prompted people over here to purchase an engine or more from the UK. My goal is for 2012 to be a better year and move forward. I may have been down but I am not OUT. I have been without a computer for a spell and hope to resolve that soon. Dr Death   PS I still feel that family is first and for most.

General Discussion / NOT ENGINE RELATED
« on: February 25, 2011, 05:29:02 AM »
This topic is not engine related but it is to the largest group of friends I have. Life is a wonderful experience and yet it can take you to the lowest form of living anyone would care to experience. I say this because I am at that point right now. It might seem strange to have a post like this but I do consider the many people who I have never met to be some of my closest friends.

I have come to a time in my life that half of my heart and all of my soul seems shattered. I don't believe it is a weakness when a man turns to his friends in a time of need. I feel that is what friends are for.

Who I am most upset at is myself that I have had blind eyes and deaf ears when someone so very special in my life was speaking. God teaches us to be kind and listen to others needs and it seems I have been anything but that. Why is it that the people we love the most get treated the worse.

I had a rude awakening a week ago and as it is not official it seems it could go that way any day. So I just continue to wake up and wonder if this is the day the remainder of my heart will be destroyed.

I hope and pray that anyone who is married will remember that having and playing with engines or any other hobby to some extent needs to be OK with both parties. It is not the engines or the hobbies that has caused this but the relationship I have put towards the hobbies that has caused this. I know that in the future if I do something my wife is not interested in I will pay closer attention to her and less of the hobby.

I guess my request from this post would be that anyone who has a relationship with God to think about me and maybe remember me in a prayer that Gods will be done in my marriage. It will be the only way it is healed.

If you don't pray an encouraging word would be helpful also. Since I don't have family close by my largest source of support is with this forum.

I am sure what ever the outcome I will survive I just hope I will be allowed a second chance to survive happily. Thank you, Mike DD  :( :(

Waste Motor Oil / WMO 2nd GENERATION
« on: February 04, 2011, 04:16:57 AM »
Bob and I were talking and we thought a new post on this subject might make it easier to keep up with what is being posted. I don't imagine we will ever come up with hard facts what WMO will do to an engine. There are just way to many variables. I would guess we could come up with some strong educated opinions. My first goal is to receive some ash from the Kwik Lube here in town and mix it with a grease base and just test it for corrosiveness on some paint like rubbing compound. That should be easy enough for me. As for testing on hardened surfaces that will be the next step which will take a little longer. One step at a time they always say. Mike DD

General Discussion / This is my REACH OUT urgent
« on: January 31, 2011, 04:00:36 AM »
I read a post a few days back from someone in GA selling his engine which he had run for 4 or 5 years strictly on WMO. The engine was his main source of energy. He says he is selling his engine and moving to somwhere new and will have no electricty. So if you still read this forum please contact me or if someone else knows who I am looking for please contact me. I am very interested in his experience in WMO for 4 or 5 years. Thank you, Mike DD

Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / cooling tanks
« on: December 31, 2010, 09:04:07 PM »
This gentleman builds cooling tanks. I could not get the picture to transfer. I told him I would post it over here and let people interested contact him. The prices are as listed. Something could be worked out towards shipping in the container already forming. If there shows to be an interest I will figure a fair price per container. Andrew could send pictures. They look to be well built. Mike DD

As some of you may be aware I dabble in making cooling tanks. They are made from 1.2mm Zintec sheet and are fully Stainless steel TIG welded. They have two ribs rolled around the outside of the tank. The two sizes of tank pictured below are 350mm dia x 625mm tall £60 and 200mm dia x 360 tall £30. I can make any size of tank you like Just email or call me for a price. They do NOT come with any fittings or holes as they can be in different places for different engines. However I can supply bosses at an additional cost. Please contact me for any information on andrew.savage@talktalk.net Tel : 016030860138 / 07779504587

Listeroid Engines / Up date on container from the UK
« on: October 08, 2010, 11:58:17 AM »
We are having pretty good luck with the engine venture. There seem to be plenty of 6/1's. We have one buyer who is turning 8/1 SOM's into like brand new units. He is careful how he list the sales receipt so the EPA will not go crazy and expect it to meet the new requirements. We are checking into a 40 foot container so we might be able to include a few more buyers on the US side.   This will decrease the shipping cost even more. This could be a chance in a lifetime to own some of the old iron from across the big pond. I know of a CD and CE that could be bought and I could put you in touch with the seller.

We have a shipper in the US who has been doing this for 10 years and he seems to know just what to do to make this work.  If anyone is intrested please email me and I can put you in touch with who we are using to purchase the engines. DD

Petteroids / 6 HP air cooled engine
« on: October 05, 2010, 05:06:47 AM »
OK so I need some help or advice with an engine I acquired. It is a 6 HP 1000 RPM Petter air cooled with flywheels one normally where you would find it and the other mounted outside of the fan. Both flywheels are the same size. Other than strapping it down to see if it explodes how could I find out if the engine could run 1800 RPM without blowing up. I need a little more power for my dads genset and if I could safely run this engine at 1800 it would work great. It should give it at least 3 more HP. I did have it up to 1800 for a short time and it did run pretty smooth. I would love someones advice. I might just have to get a little larger engine. It truly is a one of a kind engine with the 2 flywheels. DD

General Discussion / GMC truck
« on: August 07, 2010, 02:40:21 PM »
This is kind of off the wall but I thought I would post here for guidence. I have a 1999 GMC 4 x 4 1 ton truck. Other than the paint it is in great shape. It has a 454 in it and I would like to change it for either a GMC diesel or a Dodge Cummins diesel. Who out there has any knowledge about this? Also is there any problems with Big Brother ( government ) in doing something like this. The reason for this is I have an unlimited supply of UMO to burn. Thanks, DD

General Discussion / Importing engine from the UK
« on: July 17, 2010, 04:02:49 PM »
I am with a group of people who have been working on a project of importing real Lister's from the UK. At first there were 6 people in the group and it looks like 1 has lost intrest. We are importing a 20 foot container which should hold somewhere between 20 and 25 engines. With 6 people the shipping divided equally will be right 1000 dollars per person. This will give you a space for 3 or 4 engines. I have at least 2 different buyers in the UK. I have a storage space in Blackpool to hold the engines until shipping. My plan is to make a trip to the UK when the shipment is ready to assist in loading the engines. If someone would be intrested in getting involved even with 1 engine it will still be a saving from what it would cost 1 person to ship one back. If intrested just PM me or email me and we can discuss further. This could be a chance to own a working piece of history.  Mike
