Generators / Re: Regulated output generator

its nice to see everone getting excited about this issue of keeping stable voltage and frequency, i dont have any experience with the listeroid engines or the st gen heads, but i do have some experience with real litser engines and real (vintage) generators.
the st heads from what i gather come in 2 variations 1800 and 3600 rpm for 60 hz, 2 pole gen for 3600 and 4 pole for 1800, there is no mention of a 6 pole generator that runs at 1200 rpm for 60 hz. and using a real dc exciter not the "brushless" style excitation, much easier to regulate.
What i would like to know is how well did the original cs listers start-o-matic sets maintain voltage and hz.
My lister jp 18/2 running at 1200 rpm directly coupled to a 1940's kato-lite gen head maintains voltage withing 1 volt and frequency +/- .5 hz with 50 amp 240 volt load applied , its 15kw 130 amp 120 volt, 65 amp 240 volt with 1950's regohm electromechanical regulator, i have to hook up a scope and check the sign wave for my own ammusement, bulbs dont flicker with this unit.
its a shame so many good generators and real engines got sold to scrap dealers and turned into chinese crap
