Listeroid Engines / Re: 12/2 Main bearing
« on: November 04, 2010, 08:27:33 PM »
sry Tom, I don't have superpowers. :D

Is it possible to replace the bearings without removing the crankshaft?

The type of the TRB is 30311, right?

Listeroid Engines / 12/2 Main bearing
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:09:29 PM »
Hi folks,

my Kissan 12/2 came with a splinter of a taper roller in the oil sump.

The engine has no abnormal noise when it's running and the crankshaft play is just a little.
The TRB look ok.

Maybe the splinter came from the dirty oil in the crankcase.

Would you recommend me to change the bearings?

Petteroids / 4.5HP petteroid exhaust smoke
« on: December 08, 2008, 01:55:12 AM »
Hi,
my new 4.5 HP petteroid has just after 2 working hours much carbon deposit in silencer. The engine even smokes when it runs under no load.

Can anyone tell my how to fix this problem? First what I'll do is to check the opening pressure and spray of the injector. Maybe the the delivery time of the injection pump is wrong, too.

I realized that the compression is low compared to my Changfa, but the engine starts after the first attempt.

Can the low compression also be a cause for the massive carbon buildup? Should I remove some of the gaskets between the cylinder block and the crankcase to get a higher compression?

Last year lots of 7HP Jiangdong engines were sold on ebay for about 170 dollars.
So you mustn't wonder when those cheap engines going Kaboom :D

But I have now my experience  :D :D

Other Slow Speed Diesels / See my dissassembled changfa Style engine
« on: January 01, 2008, 10:32:26 PM »
Hi,

I stored my changfa-style engine at bad weather too long outside. After a few weeks the valves and the seats became rusty and the engine didn't start.  So I disassembled the engine to lap the valves and check the other parts.

Modified my sentences now a bit, I hope you  can understand it now.

Just look!

Thank you, very interesting site.

I found now a good Wisconsin Dealer who has all parts I need in stock (Brown Railroad Equipment)

Can you tell me for which application they were used?

Hello,

I bought on a vintage tractor market an old stationary Wisconsin engine. Need spare parts for it. Has anybody any idea where i can spare parts for it? Shipping to Germany should be available.

Best Regards,
Michael

Hi,
the engines suck nearly the whole crankcase dry. But there was enough oil to lube the important parts.

The engine was a cheap Jiangdong. Very very poor quality.

There was so MANY casting sand in the crankcase. Everything in it is there just scrap!

I thought about repairing, but there are just 3 parts I can use again: The flywheel, the air cleaner, and the silencer.  :(

You say the "engine burned the whole lubricating oil"   Does that mean it sucked the crankcase dry ?   You may have broken a ring or somehow, it sucked the crankcase oil into the cylinder or air intake and burned it as fuel. (runaway) ?

yes it sucked the crankcase dry and burned it as fuel combined with a runaway. After that I also inspected the piston rings, but they're OK.

Maybe it came through the valve guide of the intake into the combustion chamber?  ???

Other Slow Speed Diesels / long warming up period changfa engine required?
« on: November 04, 2007, 11:03:54 PM »
Hello,

in the past I had a bad experience with my changfa style 175. After 3 minutes of warming up at low speed, i set the governor handle slowly at rated speed.
Some seconds later I noticed blue exhaust and a very high speed. I only could stop the engine with the decompressor. But it was too late: The piston and connecting rod bearing got stuck. The engine burned the whole lubricating oil. Maybe blown head gasket?

Do you also have the same problems with the engine caused by running it at rated speed when the engine is still cold?

Can you tell me how long do you let your changfa warm up?

And sorry for my bad English, I hope you  can understand me anyway.

Best wishes from Germany,
Michael

Generators / STC Generator as Electric Motor.
« on: June 20, 2007, 05:37:36 PM »
Hello DIYer  :) ,

I have a Changfa Generator with 3-phase STC-12KW alternator.

My Engine has no electric start, so I want to use the the alternator for a short time as electric motor to start the engine. Will that be possible?

Best greetings from Germany,
Michael

Hi,
thank you for your reply.

I can sleep, my changfa isn't in the cellar yet.

You're right, there is a high risk. Maybe I can install fire detectors or other, but at first it should run.
What did you modify on your changfa?

Here's manaual of german built diesel genset with changfa engine. The engine is a S1100 with a bigger oil sump. The noice of the set is 55dba.

Hello!
Thank you for your answers.
It's very hard to read your posts in technical english, so it takes a few days for me.

I've another questions:
Must or should I change the injection timing or do something other if I replace the the original air cleaner with a qieter air cleaner from a car?

And has someone experiences in running a changfa in the cellar? Because the main problem would be the noise. The inlet and exhaust noice is maybe not the problem to get a changfa silent.
The vibrations of the engine will make it very loud.

What do you think?
And sorry for my bad english, I hope you can understand me ;-)

And Terry: You're right! Those engines are awesome!

Hi,
That's not.

I found out that that is a fuel priming handle.

Can anyone explain me what that is?
