hi rick
nice pictures,  i am still in the tear down stage myself. just make sure all the sand (if any) is removed and all tappet, cam lobes crank, wrist pin surfaces are polished. i will also be painting the inside with glyptal. i did read someone who put the timken roller bearing number on the forum, i believe it was hotater. please keep the pictures comming,  i have such a busy work schedule that i do not get much time to work and photograph my own motor. good luck with your projects.

hi rick
i ran into simmalar problems, not under company name either. good luck with your project and you can gather all the info you need on your motor right on the forum. there are a lot of good people here that want to make this a good hobby with fringe benifits (electric). just ask and people will be glad to give you their good advice.

Changfa Engines / Re: Changfa?
« on: January 05, 2007, 11:44:47 AM »
hi all
i purchsed a changfa 195 from mohamed and he was very reliable. he even sells a direct drive coupler for 100.00 very heavy duty.
he also has smaller models. check out ebay for his store. the smaller engines do not have counter balanced cranks.

Engines / Re: Safety Modifications
« on: December 31, 2006, 04:59:57 PM »
hi all
i like sid's idea of the jc whitney exhaust cutout for a quick and easy fix for an emergency cutoff of the air supply. it is cable controled and can be routed to the outside of any generator house. this can be a manual addition to any automatic shutoff controls that many of you are thinking up. i am in fire alarm industry and deal with relays, temperature, waterflow, heat, smoke etc. always dealing with if-then-else situations.

Engines / Re: Where to buy a listeroid
« on: December 25, 2006, 03:42:11 PM »
hi speedy
i purchased an ashwamegh 6/1 from a guy in massachusetts. i just started to look into it and have been very pleased. seems sand was limited to 1 rib on inside of sump and tappets and cam have nice polished surfaces. i have not looked at whe wrist pin yet but have no vertical scratches in the cylinder wall. choose your source carefully and make sure they answer your e-mails. rocky mountain power (eric) seems to be a stand up guy. he has even taken a trip to india. it seems he has a good reputation and i believe he carries ashwamegh.
good luck drew

hi dave
before you order the mount check your generator foot print with the nema chart and buy the closest match. they have different models.

hi dave
doug is right on the metric standard for st frames but  im not sure when it comes to metric conversions.  i had the same problem but ordered it anyway. the front 2 bolts move with the adjustment bolts and the rear 2 bolts can move back aqnd forth to any give or take you need. so good luck and you could always return it, but i dont think you would have to.
