Hi rcavictim,

Could you let us know how you setup your injector line heater & where we can buy the parts ?

Other Fuels / Re: Opinions on running new synthetic oil as fuel
« on: January 31, 2007, 04:01:55 AM »
Hi All,

I am a Amsoil dealer.  Most, but not all syn oil is veggy derived  base stock.  It is designed to withstand higher temps before vaporizing or carbon burning.   Your fuel line heater sound like it is working good. Can you let us know how you made it & where you bought the parts ?

                                         Thanks,  Jeff in Colorado

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: Thermostats for Lister 6/1 12/2 etc

Hi All,

You might try a "Failsafe" thermostat. It fails open, to keep cooling the engine.  MotorRad is one of them.

I am trying to find as small of diam. with the highest temp. rating I can find.  I will be using 100% poly glycol which boils at 360 degrees F. & freezes at -60 degrees F.   I should pick up more efficientcy.

Listeroid Engines / Re: Balancing out the Bounce---

Hi All,

The piston IS Alum. so that should help lower the shakes & jumping.  Maybe Vidhata put the wrong bont on counter balance weights.  Thats what Eric at RMPS thinks, but he does not have a cast iron piston to weigh the difference from the alum. piston

Any one know how much the 120mm iron piston weighs ?

Or how much the bolt on counter weight should be ?

Or how much their 10/1 bolt on counter weights weigh, either for iron or alum. pistons so we can work backwards ?

                          Thanks ,  Jeff

Hello Clickclack,

Did you buy from Eric at RMPS ?   If yes,  let me know how smooth the engine runs & who is the manufacturer ?

I am thinking of trading my shaking/jumping 10/1 for a 12/1 or 14/1.

Also, how much did you pay for it ?

              Thanks , Jeff

 Hi,

Mine has 5 holes evenly spaced, about 4" dia., no extra weight that I can see.  The flywheel on the fuel tank side has one hole drilled on the inside side of the rim, (balance hole ?).  Only one drilled hole anywhere.

Yes it shakes around alot.  Eric said his flywheels have the same runout, but they are fairly smooth.

I'll see if he will swap me flywheels.  The bolt on counter weight are 6 lbs, 5.5 ozs each. Seems like a lot.

Mine is a Vidhata.            Thanks , Jeff

 Hi Guys,

Let me try again to explain.  My 10/1 is a 1,000 rpm, I will run it at 600 rpm moat of the time.  I bought a double pulley from Mike M. (great job) 60lbs for the ST generator.  I can run at 600, 800, 1,000 or if really needed a little higher for short time for running welders.  My ST has a AVR so I think the volts will be ok, I hope the Hz will also.

The problem is runout.  The outside rim face has .050", this inside face (lip) is .030", the side of the rim is .010".  Now here is the real runout, the hub on the largest dia. is .110" & .120" at the smallest dia.
At about 200 rpm's,  no shaking, at the slowest adjustment on the linkage, it is still lifting my 5" concrete slab.

Eric thinks the Crankshaft counterweights (bolt-on) are for the cast iron piston maybe, being too heavy. Countering the rod & piston too much.  I removed one counter weight, it shook more, but now with only one 6lb, 5.5 oz of counter weight, it is too light by 2lbs, 5.5 ozs.

Is this making any sense ?

The "good" flywheel has runout of .010" on the rim face, .040" inside rim lip, .030" side of rim, & .070" on the hub.   So must of the runout is on the hubs.    Also, Mine has a ring gear bolted to the "good" flywheel.  This could be the problem also, I will measure also.

I was thinking of timing the injection to "smooth out" the timing if that helps.  Then grind some of the runout on the hubs to see if hat helps also, if yes, take to a machinest & remove all runout.  I do not see any extra weight on the flywheels as a counter weight, but there is one hole drilled on the "bad" flywheel.   The other option is to see if Eric will replace these shitty flywheels with ones that will work.

                               Thanks ,  Jeff in Colorado

Hi Hotater & XYZer,

I measured the outer rims, the "bad" one had .050" runout,  inner rim had .030" runout & the hub had .120" runout, it does have a single drill hole on the inside rim.
The "good one" was almost half the runouts of the "bad one".  Its a 10/1 DI, with starter rim & motor, sold by Eric at RMPS.  He thinks the bolt on crankshaft counter weights are for the cast iron pistons and not my alum. piston.  The bolt on crankshaft counter weight is 6lbs, 5.5 ozs. EACH.  I do not see any counter weight on the flywheels.  With the runout at 200rpm, it does not shake, but at 600 rpm, the nuts and bolts are falling off & lifting my 5" concrete pad.

Does anyone know the weight of the 10/1 (4.705" bore) cast iron piston ?

Its runs fine at maybe 200rpm's, but at 600 rpm's, it shakes the nuts & bolts right off.

Yes, it is bolted to a 4" H beam & bolted to 5" concrete slab.

Please help, I have got to get it fixed, before the Utility cuts off my power.

                          Thanks , Jeff

I have a Vidhata thats out of balance.  it has 23.5", holes, no spokes. There are no counter weights that I can see. The crankshaft does have bolt on counter weights.  The center bore is off by .120" on both I believe.  Do I just start bolting more weight & move it around to get the best balance ?

                          Thanks , Jeff

I have a Vidhata that shakes real bad, it is a 10/1 DI, with a ring gear and starter motor.  It is fine at lower rpm's (200 rpm ?) but at the slowest ajustmented rpm, it shakes and is lifing the 5" concrete pad.  It has bolt on crankshaft counter weights (6lbs, 5.5 oz each).  The injection side flywheel inside rim is machined at angle, not 90 degree square like the other side flywheel to clear the starter motor.

Both flywheels have runout on the outside of the rim (belt driving surface) of .120" & the center hubs are about the same.  With all this runout, I think the crankshaft hole is not concenrtic & may need to machine off the runout.

I also found sand on underside of the drain plug square box area, look out for tis area, very hard to get to or see.  I bought mine from Eric at Rocky mountain power solutions.  He thinks the crankshaft counter weights are maybe for the cast iron pistons & is too heavy for my alum. piston.   Any sugestions, need help.

                           Thanks ,  Jeff in Colorado

I was told by Eric at Rocky Mountain Power Source, that he is waiting for an exemption letter for lister diesel engines before he orders another load of them from the EPA.  He is not sure how long it will take, but it seems he has been talking to the EPA.  We need to find out what the exemptions are for business people and if this new rule violates our commerce laws.
