People like that should not be allowed near basic hand tools,  much less engines. Disgraceful!   :(

General Discussion / MEP-802A Are they worth having?
« on: August 15, 2019, 05:47:01 PM »
I have been thinking of buying a MEP-802A to use at my cabin.  Basic needs are for lights, fridge, and a window unit during the hot times.  During hunting season, it might get run for 4-6 days.  My cabin is nowhere close to the grid...thanks to a jerk-ass neighbor who wont grant me a right of way.  Seems these things cost about  $2500.00 and up.  Built to mil-spec, I would think these to be solid units?
Opinions?

General Discussion / Merry Christmas to All here!
« on: December 24, 2017, 10:53:52 PM »
To all those on the site, those who have helped me, and those I dont know.  I want to wish you all, the Merriest of Christmas's and joy to you all.  I lost my Dad in September, and the holidays have been really rough for me.  He was my friend and my mentor, as well as my riding buddy, and my partner in helping me rebuild my SOM. So in His honor, I will try to get back to finishing the engine early this year, with the help of all you wonderful people here at the site.  God Bless...

Actually, the oilfield engines do show up, they just have a steep price.  Here are two near me, that if I had a place to put them, I would have bought one or both.

Happy Birthday Butch  ;D
We are only as old as we feel...well, thats what they keep telling me.  I should have taken better care of myself when I was younger...HA!
You still have plenty of prime years to go!  :D   Old age age and treachery beat out youth and enthusiasm most of the time.

Beautiful engine, cant wait to see you make her purr!

For those of us new to this, I honestly have no idea...whats that engine really worth in the U.S. market?
And while I am asking...what about that Bamford of yours...are parts readily available.interchangeable for these?
I have never seen one at an engine show, down here in Texas   ???

Wow  ;D  Even with the conversion rate I would pay more than twice that, to get my hands on that piece of Gold  8)

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: Original CAV injector manual online
« on: April 29, 2016, 06:38:05 PM »

After a long gasoline soak, 3 trips to the chemtool bucket, here is what I have so far...
An early roundtop with the removable feeler needle? Which I don't have???
I have been unable to separate the main body to access the spring etc, for cleaning or examination.
I have heated and "banged" several times while clamped in my large postvise.
There are "loose" parts in there, I can hear and see them move, so I assume I have gotten most of the gummy crap cleaned out.
Should I worry about total cleanup, or can I safely assume she will work?  I am not to the point of being able to hookup the fuel pump, etc.
as the engine is not reassembled at this time.  Or should I simply replace the injector?  ???
