Listeroid Engines / Need help guys...
« on: October 10, 2006, 04:31:13 AM »
Trying to talk the old battle axe into letting me obtain a listeroid. Of course there has to be some practical application, not just cause I want one. Anybody toyed with the idea of a listeroid lawn mower?... I'm thinking of a self propelled cart with maybe a couple of goats walking behind to chew down the grass. Any other unique and/or entertaining suggestions would be appreciated... Have at it. Regards

Listeroid Engines / Random thoughts on NRG

The Kardashev scale says that a civilization should be judged on its ability to harness the energy available to it. A type I civilization should strive to harness all the energy available on a single planet (terrestrial). Ocean thermal currents, geo-thermal, wind energy, tidal forces etc... A type II civilization should strive to harness all the energy available from its nearest star (the sun). A type III all the energy in a galaxy. Unfortunately Carl Sagan estimates we are about a 0.7 (type 0).

Regarding hydrogen fuel cells from Halfnuts:

"Please don't say from the hydrolysis of water because then I'll ask you where the energy for that is supposed to come from."

I've seen research on solar powered hydrolysis... is this feasable?

I love you guys! If I was king I would appoint a dozen of you to direct energy policy and we could straighten out this mess in 5 years.

Before you go drafting a new crop of 18 year old recruits, look a little deeper.

I'm not gonna recruit 18 year olds, thank you. I'm going in with a bunch of fat, middle age guys like myself and tell them after we steal their oil we get to drink all their Molson Canadian.  ;D But seriously folks.... thanks for the info. It does seem like a lot of trouble to produce. I wish the gov't would get behind biodiesel, cellulose ethanol etc. Hydrogen fuel cells seem like a stretch though.

To Hell with the Middle East, I say we invade Canada, eh?

"Alberta's oil sands contain the biggest known reserve of oil in the world. An estimated 1.7 to 2.5 trillion barrels of oil are trapped in a complex mixture of sand, water and clay."

Listeroid Engines / Harbor Freight
« on: April 05, 2006, 04:20:30 PM »
Wonder if we could talk a company like Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/ into importing some Listeroids? I was in the Lake Worth, FL store for the first time last week and its full of imported machinery. They should certainly have the expertise. Looks like they have over 200 retail outlets plus catalog sales...

Or none of the above, and just dissapear into the fabric of a Cdn life style and enjoy the full benefits & opportuity it affords of a better life style, & hopefully forget the violent past. Or leave.

Showing how life imitates TV :)

On the Soprano's last night, it showed two suspected Al Qada sleepers sitting in the Bada Bing drinking shooters and watching strippers.

Hell I see this thread has been highjacked :)

Several of the 9-11 hijackers lived here in South Florida and were known to frequent strip bars. I also have a friend that worked at the Palm Beach Kennel Club (greyhound track) and cashed a ticket for Mohamed Atta.

General Discussion / Good news...Bad news...
« on: February 15, 2006, 05:04:36 AM »
Hello all,

The good news is... FEMA reimbursed me for the generator I bought after H. Wilma. The bad news is...I hadn't discovered this forum or the wonderful world of Mr. Robert Ashton Lister yet. So... I am stuck with a 3600 rpm Screamin' Mimi disposable genset (8kW). Much to my dismay, I understand they are good for about 1000 hours (if you're lucky) and am wondering what, if anything I can do to prolong its demise. What goes wrong? Is it the engine or the gen head or both? Can it reasonably be rebuilt or is it truly throw away? In the immortal words of Messrs. Bartyles & James "Thanks for your support".
