This is what happens when you're awake at 2AM and can't get back to sleep
Only 160Ks from home. Might be good, might be scrap . . .

Hi Mike
I just looked and it's gone, did you go back to sleep or have a coffee whilst putting a bid on?
Cheers

No Stef, I just bought it lol $100. What can go wrong lol
He describes it as "turns over freely" and his wife describes it as "scrap" lol

Well at least most of the paint is off it, better get a couple or three wire brushes when you pop down the road to pick it up!
Best of luck, keep posting......
Cheers

Yep, only a bath in oxalic acid for rust removal and she's ready for paint. ;)
I hope you find only good surprises inside, Mike!

Hi Mike
Oxalic ont be enough. Rather electrolysis, but... be carfull with listard coating (depending on what chemicals you use).
Cylinder in that case is better be brushed with angle grinder
Good luck

Guys, I'm not an appearance/restoration type. I have two CSs & just bought this one cos it looked entire-ish. It'll probably turn out to just be a 3hp one anyway. But for $100? What the hell
If I'm lucky it may have compression. We'll see
I just bought it because at that price and only a hundred miles away it would have been irresponsible not to . . .
It can sit "under the Macrocapas" with a big bucket over its head/injector etc for as long as may be required. There's another one there that hasn't run for a couple of years sitting there anyway, so it won't get lonely
I have another 6/1 bolted/concreted down to a base up at my Bay of Plenty property that I have never run. I paid $300 for it about three years ago. I bought a new pump & injector last year from Rob at OldTimerEngines and am off up there for four days early tomorrow - so my project for the weekend is to see if it will run . . .
Cheers

Hi Mike, good on you for doing the responsible thing and saving these engines from the scrap man. I`m glad to hear it won`t be lonely, perhaps it will strike up a relationship with it`s new friend. If you could find a way to breed them Rajkot would be out of business and the world a better place!

The price was right !
Congratulations.
They are becoming more rare every day.
Keep us posted of the progress. Nice to see another one saved from the iron scrap heap.
Now you can get some sleep...with a smile on your face ;)

Guys, I was kidding about new paint and oxalic acid. Obviously more than cosmetics are needed. I'll try to avoid sarcasm.
