This engine just seems more sophisticated than the other twins I've seen here on LEF.  I can't actually say why but it just does.  What does my subconscious see that my conscious doesn't?

The sound difference is likely due to the microphone and audio circuitry which is doing some companding- compression of the audio range.

What got my attention was the near disaster of the dangling hat chin strap near the exposed rotating gib key while hand cranking.

I'm guessing the extremely well formed and tidy fuel lines - they're no different to any other Lister, except they're not wibbly wobbling all over the show. It's either that or the "racing matt black" valve covers  ;D

It's the valve-covers, Ade.  yes

I think you guys have got something there.  If they had painted the flywheels matte black I might have mistaken it for a Morris Type A engine.
