Post by: oldantics on July 01, 2018, 11:51:12 PM
Hi need help.. found an old lister generator in my grannies old barn. It's not working but still in decent shape. Was hoping someone would know from the pictures I will add what age it is or if it's worth anything?

Hi Oldantics,

If you can find the serial number, that will help us date the engine accurately.

Not sure if I'm reading the serial number but there's a number here 9270/13..
Think it also says
KVA 1.25
Phase 1
Cycles 50
Volts 230
RPM 1500

Hi,

I think that’s the alternator plate rather than the engine plate.

Re your photos - most pictures straight from the camera are huge... you need to use some software to resize them smaller. If you use Windows, then I highly recommend Faststone Resizer - free, easy to use, and very versatile.

Can anyone help with the age of it by the pictures? Has to be at least 1930s or 1940s.

Looks like an FR1 engine, which puts it sometime after the end of WW2. Can’t help with an actual date without the engine serial number I’m afraid.
