Title: Homemade Electric Start

I just couldnt help myself here as i had a a starter generator from an old golf cart,pictures are posted in the gallery.
Cant quite figure out how to attach an image in a post.

Gary,

The rule around here is, "Pictures or it never happened."  Sign up for a web-based picture hosting service.  Photobucket.com is a popular one.  Once you upload your pics there you can link the image to that using the little picture thingy icon. 
Someone might have more concise instructions on how to post pics.

Nice job !
Does the starter continue rotating after the engine has started ?
Could wear out the shaft bushings.
Unless you are also using it as a DC generator ?

It is hinged with a spring so when tension is released(IE started) the belt is loose enough it doesnt rotate much.
just temporary as i am looking for a correct starter(and funds)

Not only will you need the starter motor, but also the unique bracket that goes between the engine and starter motor.

  The starter generator rotates at all times. Starts the engine and charges the battery. Normal operating rpm with the engine at fast idle is 10,000rpm when use don Kohler k181 engines.
  I've seen them rated up to 25amps charging capacity.
