Title: Lister Petter AC1
Post by: scrooster on February 05, 2011, 07:09:18 AM
I just bought a Lister Petter AC1 that I intend to turn a gen head.  My AC 1 is a 6.5 bhp at 3600 rpms.

Here are pictures of my engine:

My questions are, is this considered a very good to excellent model?  Is it one of their more durable models?

Also, for genny use I have to have it operating so that it turns the gen head at 1,800 rpms to achieve 60 hertz is it? I am assuming I am going to have to rig pulleys to achieve this, but, is there a way to do this by throttle or governor and extending the life of the engine at the lower speeds at the same time?

Thank you for your advice and input.

You'll want a 4Kva head AFAIK.

Engine has a very good reputation, but water cooled is quieter of course.

Thank you. :)

Yes, I was thinking 4 - 4.5 kva or somewhere in there. But they all seem to come in either 3, 3.5 or 5.

From what I know a 5Kva head would work fine.

Hopefully some of the more informed members will chip in on that.
