Title: 3 Lister Petters for $20!!
Post by: horsefly76 on August 22, 2009, 06:09:37 AM
Woo Hoo! ;D

Bought 3 Lister Petters from work today for $20!  I almost needed a paper bag to breath in :o

So what I have is 1 running SR1 (1 cyl air cooled 7.5hp)  (S/N 5266SR1A21)   Needs some TLC  injection pump leaking fuel into crankcase and blew out crank seal.

And 2 LPA3 (3 cyl air cooled)  (S/N 4300528LPA3A079)  1 running...  1 missing injection pumps sitting out in the open for 7 years :'(

The mechanic that works on the ground support equipment (I work at an airport on commercial airliners) says "I don't know anything about diesels" so these engines have been just sitting needing simple repairs.

Over lunch the ground support equipment manager (Bill) handed me a new in the box Lister Petter injection pump for the SR1 "Here put this in your lunch box you will find a use for it" ;D

"Oh I have all the shop manuals for the engines you can have those too" :o

All came from light towers at work and were sold to me for scrap value. I may get too keep the generator heads too but Bill was undecided on those.

I should go buy a lotto ticket..... ::)

I will post pictures when I can.

Data tag says 7.5hp @ 1800 rpm. I just removed the engine from the light cart it was in tonight. I had not looked at the hour meter till today only 572hrs on the clock :)

Not bad for a motor built in 1971.

Do with them?

Shhhhhhhhhh!

Don't let my wife know I don't have a plan yet :D

Well the LPA3 will be used as a portable 10kw generator. I will need to source a gen head for it when money and time allow.

The SR1????? I really don't know yet. But that's the fun part! The plan for it as of now is to get it fixed up make it "pretty" again.

Yes I had to down size from a house we were renting to an apartment.

Wife went back to school to finish Her PHD in education and we had a baby boy 7 months ago.

I have a small shop set up now in a rented 10x10 shed that has no electricity so I have a battery bank and inverter set up to run lights an evap cooler a radio.

I call it my "Man Cave"

I use my little EB 300 Kubota diesel with a 160 amp presto light truck alternator to charge the battery bank.
