They are saying that the process is mostly powered by the gas produced. Seems like a pretty serious plant.

Since when does perpetual motion involve external energy input ? Yes the gases may power 100% of the plant but don't forget that the input to the plant is energy in the form of carbon based materials.

The gases produced during the process seem to be about a third of what is being produced. Just about as mad as the claim that you can run a car on water.

Sure. They're just mining trash. Extracting the energy from it and putting it to use. Otherwise you're just burying it in the ground and taking up valuable land. Question remains, though, whether the economic benefit outweighs the cost of operation. We have methane powered generators running off the gas from a capped landfill here. Don't know how long it'll run, but as the soil microbes break down the trash it's better to burn the stuff than let it vent into the atmosphere.

Seems like it s a far more sustainable fuel than fossil diesel.

It seems at least as reasonable as turning oil into plastic, rubber or fertilizer. It is just breaking material down into it's basic molecular components, carbon & volitile gasses. I mean it's not like it is the old Star Trek replicator that made what ever you asked it to. The process is just what happened under the earth's surface to the dinosaurs, just accelerated.

A.) The dinosaurs have been vastly over rated. Algae are our friend.
B.) I kind of flashed (just for a frightful moment or two) that maybe and I should write JUST maybe we're producing a lot more trash and crap than we should really be. Gosh, I can't believe I wrote such an un-American thing. What's good for The Great Wall Mart of China is great for Amerka and the free world!

Has anyone actually seen this plant running, or is it just a promotional film to generate investment ::)
On the surface it seems that you just take some old tyres, grind them up and mix them with water, pressure cook them for a while and shove the soup through a distilation process. ;D

Certainly we produce too much trash, everybody produces too much trash, any trash is too much trash, but we have huge landfills full of trash allready, & a plant like this could run for years making a viable product (sorry, not free solar panels) that just about every one (on the mainland) needs, so what's the problem, if it works?

The mentioned Turkey plant went online about a year or so ago.
There were isseus with realy bad smells from the plant and break downs.

It's a simple equation, you don’t ever get owt for nowt.
All the promotional video ever shows is small quantities of ‘fuel’ being produced, and large quantities of ‘waste’ being poured in. ::)
