Post by: johnny williams on January 19, 2006, 09:39:49 PM
Does anyone know of an inexpensive device that will convert 400Hz to 60 Hz?

non reactive loads will run on 400Hz no prob, not sure about powering switching power supplies.

I know an old trick to run 400Hz radio gear on 60Hz was to wire a second transformer in with the respective input and output windings wired in series. It usuable ran warm but didn't burn out.

You may want to try running a cheap transformer wall brick on 400Hz to see what happens.
